The seperation of church and state. So forgive me for being a little forward, but what your god thinks doesn't mean a damn thing to anyone in this matter. What this country stands for is NOT your Christian or Catholic morals, it's freedom and equality. So if everyone is equal and deserves freedom who are you to tell anyone they can't get married based on your own personal values? If he doesn't like it then the priest doesn't have to marry a gay couple, but that has nothing to do with the court, so you can't stop them from getting married.

Now I believe this country does lack the moral values that it needs, so we can agree on that. (but I don't think being gay has anything to do with a personal choice or is a bad thing at all). However we do NOT need God or Allah or Buddha to teach us those morals. The government can promote being a good person completely godlessly, keep all 10 of your commandments to yourself. Can you find a flaw in my logic? I can't.

The flaw in your idea is that you have forgotten (I may be wrong but I assume you are American) that the majority rules and the majority are against gay marriage. God aside, most Americans
don't agree with it, as recent publicly voted on articles do attest.

I have never understood why people are condemned because of who they love. Who gives a hoot? Why is it so bad to love someone of the same sex?

I would be willing to wager that virtually everyone is at least bisexual. The trait is simply more latent in some people than in others.

What skin is it off of my nose if same-sex couples love each other and want to get married?

If someone wants to enforce every rule ever put forth in the Bible, then we should all be punished for eating shellfish.

Sheer idiocy.

*clapclapclapclap*

It's already perfectly legal for a minister to decline officiating at a marriage for a number of reasons--they're too young, one's divorced, one's not Christian, church is booked up, etc. So why not for same-sex couples as well?

This ad shows why it's demeaning to insist on having a vote about it, too:

Go for it sister.
It's the personality that counts not the beliefs.
There are good Christians and bad Christians.
There are good atheists and bad atheists.

Like your thinking.

Flawless logic indeed. Well said. Now all we have to do is get them to listen...here's where my plan fails....
