I am an expert on this question, lol.
Ok depending on the person and how crowded the line is, I usually request to speak to a manager or supervisor. If the manager or supervisor doesn't care or is equally rude, my next step is to go online and find the corporate address of the company. I usually take 10 minutes to write a complaint letter. If this doesn't work, then write to the Better Business Bureau online (BBB.Org).
If none of these work, then do not spend one more dime at a business that treated you badly.
These people do not deserve to get paid a salary by the money you spend there.
Usually if someone is really rude I will just tell them "hey you are supposed to say thank you to customers!" and walk away.
sometimes this works and sometimes it does not. The cashiers do not care especially if they make $6 an hour.
A well written complaint letter stating the facts will usually get noticed, but if it doesn't, then write to the BBB. Nobody likes a negative complaint on their records.

Personally I'd ask if there is someone higher in authroity at the time, if the person kept being persistently rude and depending on the situation and what was going on and the tone and the whole details of wut pacificially was occuring, i'd request someone else or leave the place inwhich I was at if possible emiditally look up the number of the place latter that evening, and leave a message on the phone , and request something be done or addressed. Maybe go to another location of the bussiness or store or place-n'hopefully there'd be better sales clerk or staff in which to be around-if it bother'd me to the m uch degree. Like I say it all depends on how bad the situation was and if it really bug'd me. most time i'd just leave and hopefully next time i came back it'd be another person someone with more person-skills.

i prevent this by not being rude to sales clerks in the first place. almost every time i go into a store i get behind some yuppie upper middle class dyed blond woman who gives the salesperson a hard time. If youre that woman, stop it. youre holding up the line and i need to pee. the sales clerk is not going to give you the 50% off price on that book, the sale ended 2 days ago. also, you do not need to balance your checkbook at the register and make everyone else wait.

I usually ask for my money back and leave everything there so the clerk has to put it all back on the shelves, and then I write a complaint letter to the management and mail it. If I don't get a proper apology, I find another place to shop.

I would say excuse me-
walk away with all the crap sitting at the check out......
go over to management.. point directly at the person and tell them. that employee was not able to assist me in any way.. and I am very disappointed in the current status of the way the store is run... I'd also mention that I have a new outlook on the store.. and that I will be sure to spread the word to friends.....
I'd then leave...
ppl are just messed up sometimes.. and they need to be pointed at

I try to be as pro-active as possible therefore I try to make the effort to speak with the supervisor. It is a good idea to ask them why they are being rude. Sometimes it helps to remember that they are probably having a bad day. That does not excuse them for taking it out on me though!
Yeah, I speak with their supervisor and that has done the trick.

report to manager:
The person at the frontdesk (or whereever) was unwilling to help me with my purchase (or whatever the dilemma), I was wondering if you could help me.
Bringing out the manager, the customer is almost ALWAYS the one who gets the benefit... the manager wants the customers coming back for more...
(Sales clerks aren't getting paid that much these days... impatience)
Good luck!

I used to get really irate...then, I knew that it wasn't the right way to act...I just ignore them, unless they are really horrible, or sometimes ask them what is wrong? If they continue, I just avoid them next time...I figure if they are rude to me, then they are rude to everyone else, and someone else will probably cost them their job, and I won't be the one. Good luck

I usually get a manager, I do not tolerate nasty people in customer service. The reason I do this is because if it is some little punk ***, I would probably wind up knocking their *** out!!
