Without AKC papers, you have no proof. And don't fall for the CKC thing. It is a made up registry for dogs who the AKC will not register.
Don't buy from a pet store, online,or a backyard breeder. Invest in a good dog.
You should get a guarantee for AT LEAST a year for the health of the puppy.
If the breeder has A LOT of puppies, like many litters at once, stay away!!! That is a sign of a puppy mill for profit person!!!

Well the price that you paid was for only a pet. If it came with AKC papers then it is a purebred. On the papers if they gave them to you they would have marked a spot that says limited registration. This means that you can not you it as a breeding dog. Once you get the dog you should take it to the vet. The dog should already have some of its puppy shots. They should have given you a vaccination record when you bought the dog. If you ask why i know this stuff my mom breeds dogs and we give the people the papers with the vaccination record with the owners.
I hope that you got a good puppy!!!

Did the puppy come with AKC registration papers, "or any other registration papers"?
That is a FAIR PRICE, when sold as a PET only.
Authenticity of papers "well, hard to say without knowing who they are with".
Immediately take the puppy to the Vet for a exam.
Do not accept the puppy, if it doesn't come with a Veterinarian certified health certificate, a guarantee, and isn't 8 weeks of age or more.

i would ask to see the parents of the puppy.... if the dog has papers than usually the vet has to ensure what kind of dog it is... i know because i worked at a pet shop for a while... and knowiing from experience mixed breeds live longer than purebreds, i had a rottie named cricket and she died of cancer and had a problem with her hip, my other three dogs are adorable and very healthy and i love them!

The only way to be sure if you are getting the 'real deal' is by purchasing your dog from a reputable breeder. Look for clubs of the type of dog that you want to get for contacts.

We got one of our dogs from the pound and they told us that he was a full blooded lab, but he turned out to be a mutt. But he still looks like a puppy, and he turned out to be the perfect guard dog.

Don't buy from a pet store. Ask the breeder for references. Take it to a vet for everything else!

If you love your dog it shouldnt matter if its a purebred or not. Just love your dog. So what are you going to do if you find our if your dog isnt a purebred? just throw her away? some dog owner you are. Just get another dog that that you are positive is a purebred.
