High school is like life, sometimes it's great and sometimes not. I went to a very small high school so the only 'new' friends were the new kids. It was easy to meet them. Try to make the best of this year and remember that everyone is uneasy entering a new school. You will do fine. Don't be shy, introduce yourself and ask questions about the people you meet. Have fun!

My freshman year was the same as1st. The same 36 kids started 1st and graduated together with very few coming and going. You always knew what to expect from each student and basically were like siblings. That made it much easier, I believe, than large schools. Our entire school(1-12) only had about 450 students! There are about twice that many now.

I hated my freshman year, but only because I was forced to go to an all-male Catholic school against my will. I eventually grew to like it, however, and made a lot of new friends.

In my case I most people spoke Spanish as a first language, and ghetto slang for English. I only spoke Enlgish, so it was hard to communicate. The culture barriers were tough also.
