I ask this question as I have seen and heard alot of people convert to Islam but have never heard of an atheist converting to Islam. People who convert are perhaps from other religions and so already believe in God, which perhaps makes it easier to convert, as they know that a God already exist.

It's true that a lot of Christians convert to Islam, but also many atheists do so.

Because Atheists really need a logical proof of the existence of God & many of them are so into sience & math.. only the great ones who get far enough in studing science are the ones who convert to Islam.

"Why did I Embrace Islam?
This is an extract from Dr. Gronier, a French MP, who embraced Islam. Revealing the reason of embracing Islam he said, I read all of the Ayat (Quranic verses), which have a relation to medical, health, and natural sciences that I studied before and have a wide knowledge of. I found that these verses are totally compatible with and give a picture of our modern sciences. Thus, I embraced Islam as it was obvious that Muhammad revealed the Absolute Truth more than a thousand years ago. Had every specialist, artist or scientist compared those Quranic verses to his own specialization, beyond the shadow of doubt he would embrace Islam, especially if he has a sound mentality and goodwill to search for the truth and not a mentally defective person with the intentions of malevolent aims."

What would be the point Atheist don't know what they believe or they believe in nothing and the Islamic religion is a false religion. So in actuality your not really improving yourself if you convert. Your really just going from a non-existing religion to a false one.

Yes it's possible. Jesus will still love you. But, I don't think you would WANT to, if you knew verses like An-Nisa 4:89,91 that explain if you try to convert to "other 'religions'", or leave Islam, they can kill you. Islam is JUST like the Mafia. If you get in you can't get out without dieing. Eight nations in the world have it a LAW that people DIE if they leave Islam. You should also read Surah 5:51. JESUS is love. NOT hate!!

By definition no. I think you would be "discovering" Allah, Islam or what have you.

To "convert" religions would mean that you already had a religion.

Atheism is religion like bald is a hair color. It also in NO WAY implies that you believe in any scientific theory.

You could discover it and buy into it though I'm sure, though it didn't happen for me.

Cantankerous, have you been reading your Ernestine Rose?

I think it is imprudent and insulting to ask anyone to convert to anything else. Any way what you change is a set of beliefs. If you like some values, you can try to experience how you feel when you follow those beliefs, and for that matter you do not need to convert to something or anything. It should be more of an individual choice of experience than a membership drive of some club. try it, continue if you like it, drop if it does not suit you.

Anything is possible, but atheists do not generally start believing in a god or gods and do not generally convert to a religion.

Yes, if you already believe there are Gods you are more prone to conversion than if you dont.

In my view, Atheism is a religion.

Think about it: Atheist believe strongly and somewhat blindly in the docturn of scientific theory, much of which is based on unproven assumptions.

So, if anybody could believe in that crazy cr*p (Atheism), why can't they easily switch to Islam, or even the religion that worships rats (a religion in India)?

Its all just one form of crazy or another.

Yes of course it is possible for an athiest to convert to any religion he or she wishes. Since they are a "clean slate," if they are interested in religion, they can take it in, there would be no confusion between their current religion and the new one they are interested in.
