People will always say that they have enough supplies when they really dont. My friend is a teacher and he has told me at how shocking it is how kids come to school with inadequate supplies. Pencils that are broken or pens that half-way work. That is a good teacher- if she asks the kids to get a particular item, your son will not be one of the people left out. Sometimes the teacher has to take a broader approach to ensure that EVERYONE has what they need so that nobody falls through the cracks.

When it comes to charity the early bird gets the worm. If there is a kid that REALLY needed those supplies his parents would have had him up at that school at the crack of dawn before the doors opened.

Perhaps you can give them to someone you feel needs them, donate them to your church, or next time you're in that situation be more firm with her. I'm sure what was in her mind is that often even when prepared, children forget things on the first day of school and it's more hassle for the teachers than they need with a room full of rowdy excited kids. She was just trying to be helpful.

I don't think it was wrong of you to take the supplies. They must have had enough for everyone, and you can save what you have for next year, or donate it to a local charity to give to those who need it. I think the lady at the school was the one in the wrong for making you take the supplies.

You could've opted out, but didn't to avoid starting off on the wrong foot with the teacher--nothing wrong with that. Perhaps the church donation was an OVER supply, the teacher was wanting to distrubute it liberally (maybe to appease the donators)--nothing wrong with that.

If you think it will make you feel better re-donate the supplies back, otherwise accept the gift--nothing wrong with that.

Well if she sad bring the supplies back that you buy with slip and maybe like a little extra and then if the treat is something that you don't need and is to much just say no.
Then it really won't be wrong
(i think)

Well now it seems that all kids will be starting out with the same kinds of supplies. You can keep the ones you already purchased and phase them in as needed during the course of the school year. Nothing will be wasted here. trust your son's tracher for now.

I think you should have told her that you were offended by her pushing the supplies on your son after you told her that you had already purchased the things he needed! If she continued with this action I would tell her she will be reported to the school board for disciplinary action!

I don't see what the problem was... the church was donating free items, you opted out, the teacher asked you to get some anyway, and you exercised your own free will to get them for her. You're an adult, you could've told her that you don't feel comfortable doing that. She's not the one to blame here; you're the one that took the items.

You were not wrong but the teacher should have let it be we live in a gimme world now a days where everyone is trying to get free money rent or you name it . I really believe people should stand on thier own like they used to.

I think she just was trying to be nice...to your son, with her being new it might make it easier for her to get the kids to like her....what you can do is give the supplies to some one who needs it...i am sure their is many kids in your area that can use them
