I prepared tax returns for 2002 through 2004 but I am not sure whether or not they were in fact filed. I would like to verify with the IRS but I do not know how to get that information from them electronically. Please help.

Call (800) 829-1040 and follow the prompts to get a tax transcript. The tax return transcript shows most line items contained on the return as it was originally filed, including any accompanying forms and schedules. You will see basic data including marital status, type of return filed, adjusted gross income, taxable income, payments and adjustments made on your account.

If you didn't file, they won't have a transcript for you.

Call the IRS and talk to a representative. Believe me, the IRS knows where every cent you've earned has gone...and whether you've paid your taxes for it. Very scary.
