I take issue with how strongly the article puts it but it is essentially correct. The majority of the world's oil reserves are actually on US soil and we do not exploit this. From shale oil alone, the US has, by conservative estimates, a 500 year supply. This oil is easily and relatively cheaply (about 1/3 the current cost of foriegn oil) extracted. Environmental impact is essentially zero. Note, that the last time I checked, various oil companies were begging congress to go after this oil but were blocked by liberal scum. If that has changed, then there will be big positive changes in the world during the upcoming decade. Here is a much more reputable source that proves what I am saying....a report by the Rand Corporation:

Sadly, I have to sign on with the 'not true' crowd. If they found a reserve like that in the US, it would be all over the media. Bush would be shitting purple twinkies bragging about it, and we'd have 24-7 coverage of how it would change the face of the world.

If thats for real why haven't we heard more about it? I've heard that if we converted the coal in Montana to oil it would be equivalent to the oil in Saudi Arabia. Pennsylvania is building the first plant in the US to convert oil to coal. Construction has already begun.

You are right...it is a mind blower...

Tell me, why didn't this make the front page of every newspaper in the country?

Why aren't we hearing blurbs about this on the nightly news?

Why so secret?
