It depends on your job role and the pay structure.

If you were hourly, I think there is room to be resonable if you can be considered "part time." You obviously wouldn't get paid on the days you missed.

If you were salary and were still capable of getting the work done on your own time, again there might be room for negotiation.

Is the work something that you do independently and can be done at any hour? That is significant, because, if it's a position where your presence is required during a normal shift and it's a hardship for the company if your not there, then I think there would be an issue.

It depends I have been dealing with migraines since the age of 17 and almost every other week I have to miss at least a half day of work from them, but I have only had one employer ever threaten any kind of action. I would go talk to your employer and be honest with them, that way you are letting them know everything openly before they have to come look for answers.

Good luck.

I'm sorry to say this, but YES. Although it is a medical problem, you haven't sought treatment and this will affect their business. They need someone they can rely on. How would you like it if you were the boss and an employee showed up sometimes, but not always...you just never know when to call for a replacement. Seek medical advice from your doctor, and I hope you get everything sorted out.
