VGA is 640 x 480 pixels, or about 1/4 the resolution of a 1Mpix camera. All digital cameras sold these days are way more than this- generally in the 5 to 10Mpix range.

You must be looking at cell phone cameras. The VGA ones are basically good enough to show an image on a cell phone, and not much more. The 1.3Mpix ones, will give a decent looking photo on a computer screen, but not really good enough for printing. None of these hold a candle to even a basic digital camera.

VGA it is a graphics display system for PCs developed by IBM. VGA has become one of the de facto standards for PCs. In text mode, VGA systems provide a resolution of 720 by 400 pixels. In graphics mode, the resolution is either 640 by 480 (with 16 colors) or 320 by 200 (with 256 colors). The total palette of colors is 262,144.
Now, what is 1MP? If it's 1 Mega-pixels, you are mixing two different standards here.
Somehow VGA it is not better than 1MP.
