Depends. Right now, unemployment is at near low numbers (the jobs suck and don't pay enough) but people are working them. Thus, turning away immigrants could lead to worker shortage. That will raise wages as companies get competitive (like the mid-90's) which is all well and good, but it will also raise prices and lead to inflation.

The way they project the numbers seems extreme to me, but if the numbers were half that it would make up for our declining birth rates.

And stop assuming that every immigrant is from Mexico (not you but one of the responders). 40% of legals come from Asia. Only 30% come from North America. Mexico is the single largest nation, but only represents about 13% of legal immigrants. It's impossible to estimate exactly what percentage of illegals are Mexican (many who cross the Mexican border came from Central or South America). Also 41% of illegals are Visa overstayers (many of whom are non-Mexican). The current estimate is that between 50 - 70% of illegals come from Mexico. That still leaves 4 - 6 million illegals who are non-Mexican - no small population. I'm just tired of people making arguments based on assumptions rather than facts.

For the guy who said this is propaganda, both the people attacking this assessment and the heritage foundation use numbers that are NOT the top of the quotas allowed. They agree that the full quotas won't be used. If the numbers are so big they won't be used, another term for that is 'unlimited immigration'.

What do I think?

It sucks.

I am a liberal and I say no to amnesty. If they want to come to they U.S. to work, then do it legally. If the come here legally then they should be welcomed. 100 million seems like a lot especially with so many Americans out of work.
