Go ahead with treatment. It's your best option for beating it.

Depends on what kind of cancer and what treatment the doctors recommend. Did they say anything about the probability to succeed? There are lots of studies out there.

Some cancers respond really well to treatment and then it's no question to do it. If you are a guy for example and have testicle cancer - then yes, have the treatment, this is a no brainer and almost always healed.

But some cancers don't and the treatments are not really helping. In best case they extend the lifetime. If it is such a kind of cancer and a not so promising treatment then it's maybe worth thinking about it.

One thing which makes me sometimes wonder what I would do if.....is that the few people I know who decided not to do a conventional treatment survived and are still alive. But nobody knows why, doctors can not explain.

Whatever you chose - you are young and for that reason alone you have very good chances to recover. You'll make the right decision, trust your guts.

This is a question only you can answer. It is important to start with an understanding of your disease, its progression, treatment options, side effects, and outcomes.

If the treatments offer the potential for cure, what does the treatment entail? What are the survival rates with treatment and without? What are the short term and longer term side effects?

If the treatments are pallative (patient comfort, not cure), what are the treatments like? What does life expectancy look like with and without treatment? How about quality of life?

Given your age, I would personally pursue treatment even if the cure rate was less than 10% (and many treatments are way way above that!). The reward is so great (long term health) that short term costs seem like a good trade off. Besides, the decision to treat can be revoked by you at anytime. Starting treatment now gives you options later without foreclosing any now.But that is me -- what do YOU think?

Perhaps the question you need to ask yourself is 'why not go ahead with treatment'. If you have concerns as the the side effects or effectiveness, I'd go ahead and talk with a doctor more and see. There is no reason not to at least try, unless the treatment is more likely to kill you than the cancer.

I don't know what type of cancer you have, but of the concern is cosmetic (IE: mastectomy) remember that cosmetic surgery can repair much of the damage.

You're young and you have your life ahead of you. Get the treatment and become a survivor.

I'm 25 and have been fighting soft-tissue sarcoma for going on about 3 years. I had been in remission for about a year when I just found out this spring it had come back full force into both my lungs. When it came back I really questioned if I wanted to fight it or not, since it looked very bad and like there wasn't much hope. But to hell with not trying, life is to important to role over and give up on. So, I started chemo again and have about 3 more months of it. And thank god things are starting to alot better and I have no doubt in my head I'll beat it once more or die trying. I'll probably never live to be a very old man, but hell why give up the chance of getting another 5, 10, 20, 30, ? years.

Being young there are a lot of things in your favor for over coming cancer. Mainly it boils down to your body being able to take a very aggressive treatment(so strong it would probably kill someone older, but younger bodies can take the abuse) and the more aggressive the treatment the better chance you can beat this. But you really need to not delay your treatment any longer and get seen by the best doctors you can(major university hospitals are the best), everyday you delay can really cost you. And don't waste time(meaning do them and not what your doctors says) of these alternative meds people(not doctors) on here love to claim as the greatest stuff on earth. If it work the hospitals would use them.

Contact the American Cancer Society as soon as you can and they will provide you with a lot information and the support it sounds like you need. http://www.cancer.org

Personnel the key to getting over cancer is to be a fighter and never be willing to give up. Some days, weeks, months will be pure hell, but it's all worth it to be given the chance at life.

If you have have any questions about treatment or anything please ask and I'll try to pass on what it's been like for me: patrickm2213@yahoo.com

First it depends which cancer you have. Second, have you tried any alternative treatments? There is a product I use that has had incredible effects on cancers and other diseases. It is called Reliv. It is not a miracle worker but rather has a unique balanced nutrition in the shakes that cause the body to heal itself. You have to get it from a distributor. My distributors name is Kiera Newbury, newburypatch@hotmail.com, 623-486-4617. You may request additional information from her if you wish.

The best part is that there is a 100% money back gaurantee if you don't like it, no risk. You might want to try this and see what happens.

Absolutely, it is your only option. People who love you want you to beat this and you will if you get the proper treatment. Make sure to go for a second opinion on a course of action. Today cancer can be cured if detected early and you have a good doctor. Check all internet sites, like the American Cancer Society and join support groups that deal with your illness. Good luck and keep up your spirits. Attitude is very important, keep a positive outlook and beat this!!

This is a decision that only YOU can make.

Talk to your doctors. Talk to patients. Research your particular Cancer and the treatment they are proposing. Ask your doctors if there are alternate treatments and what the pros and cons are for each treatment. Ask what will happen if you do not take treatment.

Sit down and write out what you like and dislike about each option and then talk with your parents or someone you can trust and work out what you want to do.

Do you know all the consequences of this treatement and if so are there any bad ones. At the age of 21 if i was in your posistion i'd go for it. What type of cancer? My mum might have cervical cancer and im hoping she'll have treatment. You've got so much to live for. When theres an open window theres a shut door - If you have the treatement the cancer will go.
