I think Glock's are the best pistols money can buy because of their reliabilty, durability, accuracy, feel, simplicity of design, low maintainance, and low cost. What are your opinions?

Firearms are like tools, what is "best" for one job probable is not going to be best for another....

You wouldn't hunt Cape Buffalo with a Webley Hurricane .177 or target practice indoors with a S & W 500...Yet each works best at one but not the other...And, I would not choose either for personal defense, a combat custom Colt .45ACP is the better choice... I might like to shoot targets with my S&W 66 or 629 , but for a long day a S&W 63(22lr) is a lot easier on the shooter and the wallet...So on and so forth, and it's the same with a rifle, there is no "best" rifle, just the one most suited for the job..

To answer your original question "Who makes the best handgun"? I will take it the "who" means a firearms manufacturing company and not an individual gunsmith... I would have to go with the "Korth" a basic model will run you $4,000 - $5,000 , a nice custom one $15,000....

I own three Glocks. My service Glock is a G-20 .10mm which I will probably carry until I retire. I also own a Glock G-31 in .357 Sig and a Glock G-26 .9mm. excellent pistols, all three. All have 'night-sights.' I can order a 6" hunting barrel for my G-20 from Glock for about $140.

With the extra 6" barrel, I would say my Glock 20 has all the bases covered. Duty use, self-defense, home defense (with lighter loads), hunting, & outdoors protection from wildlife.

The durable all weather frame & finish makes it a 'go anywhere' survival tool. It is accurate, high ammo capacity, low maintenance, user friendly and dependable. For me my old Glock Model 20 is the 'best' all around handgun. The powerful .10mm cartridge will desuade many things. It is good insurance against the bogyman and other things that 'go bump in the night.'

Of course, it is not for everyone as some find the recoil too punishing. A different caliber Glock may be right for them. This is why my daughter likes the 'baby-Glock,' the Model 36 in .9mm! It is 'right' for here.

I also own a Walther P-22 w/laser sights, an FN 5.7mm, a couple of Berettas (.32 S/S Tomcat & a .380 high capacity M-84), a stainless Colt Python .357 Magnum w/4” barrel, a .38 Colt Dick Special, a S/S Ruger .357 Magnum Security Six adjustable sights, 2 & ¾” barrel and a S&W Model 28 blue-steel, 4” barrel .357 Magnum, and a .38-40 Ruger 'old' Vaquero w/extra cylinder in .40S&W.

My .10mm Glock is still my first choice. And good as the .45acp is, make no mistake, the .10mm is more potent than the .45 (which I have also owned)!

Depends on what you're using it for, for self defense a Glock is hard to beat with that being said I'm not a big Glock fan. For handgun hunting I prefer Ruger Blackhawks, for infomal and competitive target shooting I'm fond of the Ruger Mk II bull barrel or a S&W 41. For home defense and CCW I prefer a Colt Commander in 45 ACP.

I know Glocks are very popular with the cops carrying them and everything, BUT, if you want what the elite teams carry, .... there's none better than SIG SAUERs.
I own 3 of them (SIGs) and 2 Glocks. I can feel a lot less recoil through the SIGs than my Glock.
I have pre-ban 226 9mm(high cap.), 220 a 45, and a 228.
My Glocks are type 21 and a mini 40 cal.serial number 00035X. When I got it they didn't even have a proper manual for it. They shipped it with one for another caliber.
I got more jammings on my Glock 21 than any of mty SIGs, (made in Germany, 'cause now they make them here as well).
When you buy a SIG they even start sending you SIG SAUER magazine with the ultimate news, releases, who carries them, and start carrying them. People like the SEALs teams, SAS, elite Israel teams, and others around the world. Very interesting magazine, that no one but only SIG owners can get and for free.
(Glocks are cheaper, feel more recoil, and other things. Why do you think that the special military teams doesn't carry them if they are all that, incl. the TEAMS? and all of the elite / anti-terrorist/HAR / PJ's / SWAT /HALO's, etc teams around the world holster SIGs)

I agree that the Glock is the best pistol. I have own two of them and never had a problem. Some people say Kimber is the best, but I have owned a Kimber. It was very accurate but very prone to jambing. Stick with the glock.
But if you're looking for a revolver I'd go with a Smith & Wesson 357mag, or if your looking for a larger caliber then that I'd go with the Ruger Super Redhawk line

S&W would be my first choice. Assuming it will be your first firearm, please buy a revolver (or even better a quality spring-air pistol like a Weirauch-Beeman HW70A). Revolvers are the safest and best for a novice and you just can't beat "six for sure" when it comes to defense. Semiautos are for more experienced handgunners. Glock's are very high quality, wonderfully light and all, but I hate that absurdly long trigger pull on my glock 19... arrrgh!!! My next semi will be a Sig-Sauer or a Walther. Freedom Arms in Freedom, Wyoming is a local favorite for limited production highest quality big-bore blasters.

I am a gun collector, and my personal favorite handgun is the S&W 500 hands down.nothing can compare.
they were thinking about making it bigger than .50 cal but were worried about the fact that those bullets would be a pain in the *** to put on the market to go with the gun.

there is no doubt that glock makes very good self defense handguns but the Colt .45 has better stoping power as far as self defense

Glocks are good quality handguns, but if you want reliability, top quality, and superb accuracy, you need to buy a Sig Saur. Sig is the best quality firearm money can buy.
