Bullmastiff's would be prone to some health problems, but likely no more than other breeds.

They are great dogs and if you buy from a reputable breeder, you will be more likely to get a healthy puppy. This would be someone who x-rays the parents hips, does a heart clearance and provides a health guarantee for the puppy.

Check out the Bull Mastiff club of America website. There will be lots of information about the breed as well as any health issues they have.

Hip dysplasia would be the worst "overwhelming" problem you could expect. You can reduce the chances of dysplasia by getting your Bullmastiff from stock known to be clear (or nearly so) from this crippling condition. You might encounter some eye problems... you can almost bet on having skin problems! Good luck!

I'm not a breeder but my Mastiff is 12y/o and he never had an health issues. But at his age he's have problems with his back legs, which is understandable.

If your considering getting one - Just to let you know, My Behr is the best dog I've ever had. Very loyal & friendly. So GO FOR IT!!!
