Vet gave my cat Frontline. Not sure how he got fleas because he is an indoor cat. Possibly the owners before us.

hmmm..thats a tough one!! I once had a flea infested apartment (once again, an indoor cat??)
I used OTC stuff on the cat, gave her a bath, and sprinkle flea powder into the carpets and couches for weeks until they all died. I don't recall the brand but I know I bought it at the petstore or drugstore.

go to Home depot and ask for 7 dust that will kil them, for sure.
