In any job, in any position, if a woman can pass all the tests the same way a man can, absolutely. Equal rights means equal. You should take the same risks, and get the same pay. I wouldn't want a 5'2" , 100 pound weakling of either gender who cannot haul a fire hose up 10 flights of stairs being a fireman. There should be no special advantage for anyone, no matter the gender, race, belief, etc. Either you can do the job, or you can't.

Currently, Women should not be in the Special Forces. The primary purpose of the SF is to train other countries on weapons, warfare, and tactics. Its not the Rambo stuff you might think its all about. Today, a lot of that training takes place in foreign countries which do not treat women equally. A women could not teach someone who does not respect them or see them as someone in a position of authority.

Since there is no "front line" in Iraq, women do fill roles in combat situations. I've seen quite a few as gunners on humvees on convoy escort missions and as MP's on missions. Others fly helicopters.

As far as women still being excluded from many "Combat Arms" position goes, I feel there are some roles that women can perform well at. While many of the combat type jobs are very physically challenging and may not be suitable for many women (its not damn sexism its biological/scientifical fact. Not saying "all" women couldn't handle some of the more strenuous jobs.) I forsee some Officer positions opening up to females in the future. I think a women could be a good Platoon Leader in the Armor and Field Artillery Branches since they (Officers) are not required to do some of the back breaking labor that is required of the enlisted (ie. working on track, loading 60lb rounds in under 4 seconds, hauling heavy equiptment, etc)

Personally, no.

If someone else can meet the same high standards, isn't going to act as a distraction or create girl/boy drama, has the skills and endurance, doesn't mind constant yeast infections from the primative cleanliness of longterm missions, doesn't mind being sexually harassed all the time, wants to risk being raped by the very people she's supposed to trust the most because the opportunity is ever-present, and still has the desire after considering all that, ok.

Me? I won't put myself in that situation and I wouldn't want any of my family or friends to either.

I WAS IN THE MILITARY FOR EIGHT YRS. IN THOSE YEARS I FOUND OUT THAT SOME WOMEN WOULD SAY THEY COULDN'T DO SOMETHING BECAUSE THEY WERE A WOMAN. AS FAR AS I KNOW A WOMAN IS NOT ALLOYED TO BE ON THE FRONT LINES. THIS MIGHT BRING A LITTLE ANGER HOWEVER, MOST WOMEN HAVE A HARD TIME AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH. WOULD YOU WANT TO BE IN A FOXHOLE WITH SOMEONE THAT DIDN'T FEEL LIKE MOVING BECAUSE OF THEIR PERIOD. SOME THINGS WOMEN JUST CAN'T DO OR BE AROUND.

Speaking from personal experience I have to say no. Women in the military whether they intend to do so or not cause a great deal of unnecessary drama. It is unfortunate but true.

Depends how special these forces are.
Indeed I believe females can be more brutal than males under certain circumstances.
