Depends on the course and shot, hard pan bump and run, nice plush grass a pitch shot

That completely depends on the conditions of the shot. If you are in front of the green on the fairway you can hit a bump and run up the green or even a putter. If you are in the rough you can still hit a bump but it may chunk so you can try to get the ball up a little more. If you are behind a bunker the bump and run is pretty muchy out so you can take a 56 sandwedge or my choice a 60 lob wedge and flop it high and drop it by the hole with not much roll. Of course it not only matters where you are but also the contours of the green and if there are any ridges near the hole.

I usually hit the ball thin and it shoots across the green into the bunker on the other side.

you can use anything from a lob wedge, to a sand wegde, to a pitching wedge...depends on the green and the position of your ball...and if you need to work it or not..i dont have one that i specifically use ....some people swear by their 9 iron....it is all a preference
