I met this guy awhile ago. He is really nice, but is a recovering alcoholic. He has been sober for 10 years, but all he ever talks about is AA. I think he is a great guy, but I am a little wary about pursuing anything serious as I don't need the alcoholic drama. Additionally, I occassionally like to meet up with my girlfriends for cocktails and I feel guilty if I do because of his situation. Perhaps, I should just be good friends with him and not pursue anything further. What are everybody's thoughts? This is really a tricky situation because I see a lot of scary implications if I do. Any thoughts?

I think its wonderful that he's dedicated to recovery. It shows that he's had conflict in his life and he's made the choice to do something about it.
Because your afraid of his 'alcoholic drama' then stay with your own friends, a friend would be willing to hear him out, and listen.
There could be problems if you drink and he doesn't.

I think that anyone is worth a chance. If you think you can get past his talking about aa all the time then go for it. At least this guy admits that he has a problem and that is a pretty manly thing to do. Most people can never see there issues until it is too late

Just remain Friends, Unless you are 100% alcohol free you will definitely have problems.
