My brother in 26 years old and about 3 days ago he claims to have lost the ability to move the right side of his face. He seems ligit, when he smiles only the left side goes up, hes talking funny, having trouble spitting, and can't wink his right eyelid anymore.

He smokes like 2 packs a day, and has bad teeth. i don't know if either of them can casue this.

he still has feeling in that side of his face, he can feel touch.

Does anyone know what could cause this?
Is it serious or will it go away?
the only thing i can think of is stroke
thanks

Sounds like a case of Bells Palsy, you need to have this confirmed by a Doctor, The illness usually resolves itself without treatment over a few weeks or within 2 to 3 months.
The best natural remedy to speed nerve regrowth is Vitamin B complex, although your Doctor may prescribe steroids they are of little benefit.
check out this site for further information on treatment and facial exercises.

This is called Bells Palsy. It is a paralysis of the facial nerve. It usually goes away but sometimes it takes months. He should see a doctor to make sure there is nothing else going on, because sometimes the herpes virus is present and needs to be treated to speed healing.

Google Bells Palsy and you will get lots of information.

Bells Palsy...... Damage to a nerve in the inner ear could cause it... I suffered from this for about a week. Went to the E.R. and they told me there was nothing they could do. I have to say I learned a little about humility that week

He should go to the Dr. immediately - he could have Bells Palsy or could also be a stroke - both are serious - especially in someone so young...
