Some should yes. But if they're not tired and ready for bed until late at night I suggest stopping the naps. My daughter stopped napping shortly after her 1st birthday but was in bed every night by 7:30. She didn't get cranky during the day and it was great having her in bed in the evening so I could get things done that needed tending to.

Yes I believe that toddlers should take naps. The reason is so they won't be so cranky and they also need to refuel their bodies. Sometimes my son won't take a nap and it's a fighting match because he gets so sleepy and tired and he gets so moody that I want to pull my hair out at times. We also need for them to take naps so we can have some down time for our selves and do the things we need to do. Even if it's just sitting in peace and quiet. Hope this helped.

I think they should it stops them getting cranky in the late afternoon. But not all kids can.

I have two kids. One took naps. The other wouldn't.

When the one who didn't, started pre-school at age 4 he would just lie on the floor with his blanket and look at the ceiling until nap time was over. He did that for a year until he got to kindergarten and they stopped. He just didn't need it. Never fell asleep in the car on long journeys either.

I agree that naps too late in the day tend to backfire into staying up all night. Anything after 3 to 4 pm and your gonna have a long night.

Yes...it should be part of their routine. My son is 23 months, and he goes for a nap every day. He goes to bed at 8pm...sleeps till 8 am...and had a 2-3 hour nap in the day time

Yes they should, and keep it at about the same time every day. Also, don't put them down for a nap to late, because then they will keep you up all night! My kids generally went down for a nap about 1-1:30.

Of course! Most kindergarteners even need naps! My two year old takes a nap at noon every day..she sleeps anywhere from an hour to a couple of hours...depending on how tired she is and how much she has played that day.

Absolutely! My son will be 3 next month and he still naps anywhere from 1 1/2 to 2 hours each afternoon. It sure makes for a happy child and an even happier parent.

If you can get them to nap, absolutely. The more sleep they get the better. 2 - 3 year olds still need about 12 - 13 hours total sleep. So if they aren't getting that much at night, then you should defintely try to get them to nap.

Plus - it's some time for yourself!

Until approximately age 4 or so Dr's suggest that children take at least one 1-2 hour nap per day. It is actually necessary to keep their immune systems as well as their brain function healthy. Beyond the physical advantages, it is good simply to provide you with a temporary break which you as a parent no doubt need.
