If they're JPEG pictures, about the only thing you can do is resize the pictures. That's because JPEGs are already compressed and will not shrink any further if compressed. They might actually get bigger if you try! Give compression a try, but don't hold your hopes up. Good luck!

Your drive won't read/write out to the 800mb tracks.
First, I'll assume that these are all *.jpg format pictures. Depending on what the pictures are for, you should be able to save them in a higher jpg compression ratio -- that is, reduce the quality from Maximum to Good. Make a new directory and copy the jpg's into the new directory. You should be faced with a dialog box asking you what compression type (quality) to save the pictures as. Reduce it one level and see how much space is saved. You will probably be able to get down to the 700mb you need pretty easily.
Otherwise, if you want the lower compression (higher quality) then try burning two 700mb cd's, buying a new cd player/writer that will reach to the 800mb tracks, or buy a dvd player/writer.

The thing is, you don't really get all the Mb they tell you! You have to just split the pics into 2 CD's then durn 2 of each! CD's have a life of abot 6/10 years.

Your burner probably can't handle 800MB discs. You should by a DVD burner. Those things can hold gigs of info/pictures.

Sometimes making the pictures smaller will do the trick... For example...if some of your photos are '8 by 11'...you can use a photo editor to resize them to '3 by 5'... later you can increase the size again.. Making pictures smaller will save lots of space...

use quicktime, it is free from www.apple.com./quicktime.
You can then save the pix as slightly smaller files and they will all fit on the disc.
Your CDRW on your PC can handle that size of disc, the other option is to buy a new drive

Save your originals across two CDs...that way you don't lose any quality. Then resize them all, so that the whole lot will fit on one CD...this will then be the CD you can pass around!
