i think that instead of animal testing, they should use human duds, like mentally messed up people b/c they'll never realise what the world is like anyway, and what great subjects they would make. I mean, they're human "duds" anyway, so why not? it honestly makes perfect sense.

ok...some of you ARENT getting the point...I think homesless people should be gathered up off the street and taken away to these labs b/c nobody but thefew 'bleeding hearts' that chuck them a measily dollar or an occasional quarter so they can feel good about themselves (don't deny it DONT DENY IT!!!!!!) they would be the PERFECT subject.

I find the term "human duds" highly offensive. All human beings deserve dignity and respect, simply by virtue of being human. Anything less makes the writer a neo-Nazi.

Many tests formerly performed on animals are now done in laboratory conditions.

There is an alternative for those tests, like medical trials, that must be performed on humans. Allow qualified prisoners to volunteer. They have little to lose, and perhaps some incentive to participate.

Later...
Oy! Now she's targeting the homeless! What's next, blondes? Many of the homeless are in that situation through no fault of their own. The writer, too, could lose her job, have a medical emergency, be unable to make her rent or mortgage payment, and end up on the street or in a shelter. The writer appears to be a person without a shred of compassion.

OK ,so you're in an accident and have a critical head injury with resulting brain damage - would you be included in the group of human "duds" used as test subjects?
In fact, way too much unnecessary experimentation is done on animals. Computer programs can replicate much of the information that is gleaned from animal research. Most animals are not representative of humans in reactions to drugs or other products. Animal research is a relic from previous eras when other options were not available.
So, research on living beings is grossly overused.

They kind of do wat you are saying here. I am one of those human duds who got mostly better. How would you feel if somebody labeled you a human dud and then experimented on you. Its NOT fun. It even bothers me when they test things on monkeys. I would like to teach you more about this and you might really need to learn a bit more about it and judge mentally ill people in a different light in my opinion. Maybe you will be one someday when you are old and will remember that. It happens to like 1 in 5 people at some point in their lives.

SOme of the medical experiments that are done on animals is not premitted by law. There is something called the Geneva Convention where they outlined crimes against humanity. Penz oil test on animals and it causes cancer. The Nazi's, and the Japs did many experiments and some of those experiments are sealed and will not be released to the public. For awhile the US was testing on Prisoners but got in trouble for crimes against humanity. This is reason why we do not test on humans.

Sometimes I wish they would especially really sick people that kill little girls and rape them.

We are the dominant race, so we use our hard-earned privalage to use the other species for our benefit in this way.

However, we have morals, so there testing should be done within reason. Because testing on humans would disgust so many people, it is avoided, and many people couldn't live with themselves if they were the ones administering the treatment to real people.

wow. so animals shouldn't be used for testing, but humans who are cognitively delayed should be?

This makes sense? This is the same type of argument made by people like Hitler about the Jews.

not ethical... I don't like animal testing for make up, but animal testing is nescesary to help discover new treatments to help people... to test test in human beings would be to do what nazis did in ww2 and I don't think that is something we want to compare ourselves to
