No,but the fathers being listed on the birth certificate should be sufficient. If the father denies the child as being his,then you can get a paternity test to prove it. Go in person to your state Attorney Generals Office-Child Support Division and ask for details on this.

no the last name does not have to be the same as the father's. BUT i want to point out is, that you can't put the father's name on the birth certificate UNLESS HE LETS YOU! if you aren't married he has to sign at the hospital in order for his name to be on there! if he doesn't allow it, UNKNOWN will go on the babies birth certificate. you will need to prove (with a paternity test) that the child is his.

No. He will be court ordered to do a paternity test. The test will cost money and he will have to pay for it. Once the paternity of the baby and father is established, and it is found he is the father the judge will decide how much the father is to pay. Good Luck, and I hope everything goes your way!

No but if his names not on the birth certificate and you do a dna test they will put his name on there as if he signed it ur child wont have the same last name unless he takes you to court i was so mad when i found that out if i'd known that they'd of put it on there like he signed it id NEVER done a dna!!! assholes tricked me!

NO you do not my friends baby's dad didn't even sign the birth certificate and the baby has her name. She is receiving child support.

If his name is on the birth certificate, then he is considered the father whether he is biologically the father or not.
