I have two sons 2 and 3yrs old. We read 2-3 books at nap time. The same books each day for a week. We also read 2 books to each of them at bed time. Also reading the same books for a week. It seems that by the 3rd day or so they can anticipate what is coming and finish my sentences. My 3yr old is teaching himself to read and speaks as well as any 5 yr old I know and my 2 yr old speaks as well as most 3-4 yr olds. I definately think it is because of the book reading. I also let them have books alone. Like when I am in the shower my 3 yr old plays in his room and I can hear him on his monitor "reading" to his stuffed animals. My 2yr sits in his crib and does the same thing, although he only gets boards books otherwise he shreds them ! One hint though, we go to story time once a week and check out our nap time books from the library. The other books I get from garage sales for 10 -25 cents each. Books are way to expensive and we go through a lot of them! Happy reading.

I have been reading to my son since he was in my tummy. Reading is very important. They soak all there information between the ages of birth till around three. So the more you read to them the more they will learn. I read to him whenever I can sometimes 5 or 6 times a day. But Im also a stay at home mom so I have the time to do this. But if you are a working mother definitly a couple of books around bedtime so they can wind down. Good luck!

I remember when life was so hectic that reading once a day was hard. As much as you can is a good starting place. I now read one story for each kid before bedtime which is 3 for us. Sometimes I find myself reading books other times too. But just do what you can.

Enough that my 3 year old now "reads" to his 7 month old brother =) Okay, so he doesn't actually read, but he's got "The Poky Little Puppy" memorized, word for word!!

Whenever she asks. I love to read to my kiddo. She has recently started reading to me too! We also go to the bookstore about once a week so we can read to eachother and she can buy a book.

Whenever they ask.
It varies from day to day, week to week.
Some days we read 10 books! Other days we may not read much at all.
