Yes, get rid of NAFTA, I'm tired of paying reasonable prices for the goods I buy. I'd rather spend my hard earned dollars to support inefficient American factories and the unions that make them that way, and keep our low-paying manufacturing jobs in the US instead of sending those jobs to Mexico and encouraging Americans to get college educations and have higher-paying professional jobs. I'd rather pay higher prices for the billions of dollars of goods we'll still import from Mexico through tariffs that will go into the pockets of our beaurocrats in Washington, instead of encouraging business activity and creating more jobs on both sides of the border. I'd rather keep Mexico as poor and economically unstable as possible, afterall it was NAFTA that got it out of the Peso Crisis and they haven't had any serious economic incedents since. Clearly making conditions worse in Mexico will make poor Mexicans want to stay there instead of finding ways into the US.....

I suggest you take an Economics Class.

No, because NAFTA is not the only trade agreement you have. US foreign policy has been pushing for free trade for years. You are pursuing it with DR-CAFTA, and the US government has even said that free trade would strengthen the economies of latin america, and thus curtail illegal immigration because people would work in industries that are made possible through US investment. The government isn't doing it to be nice to foreign countries, or to help them. It's doing it because no economy is self-sufficient, and trade agreements like NAFTA benefit both parties involved. These agreements also come with loopholes and problems to said parties.
If you enforce immigration laws, that would curtail immigration, but it wouldn't solve other problems that the US has that affect the quality of life. You would, in fact, probably move on to the next issue and blame all the ills of the country on that.

Ugh...How many times must I discuss this topic. There are a number of factors that apply here.

The problem ISN'T IMMIGRATION, it's our Trade Policies. There are too many loopholes in NAFTA that permit our trade partners to abuse their labor force and get away with not improving their standards for labor treatment. If these Third World countries were encouraged more on improving their labor conditions (including benefits and pay) then the "flood" of "illegals" would eventually cease to be, because they only come here to look for better pay and working conditions.

If they can find what they desire in their own country then they will cease coming across the border in such large numbers. What we need to do is reform our trade agreements and make it a policy to force those countries to either make movements towards improvement or risk losing the United States as a trade partner.

Furthermore, Outsourcing and Insourcing needs to be stopped because that is part of the problem. We need to punish companies that abandon Americans in favor of immoral cheap labor with higher trade tariffs and other penalties.

When people come to work in our country as "guest workers", they need to be paid and treated the same exact way as Americans do so that our jobs will be equally distributed. It will be a level playing field for Americans and "Guests" to compete for jobs.

Honestly, place yourself in an owner's shoes. Say you have the choice of hiring an American for Minimum Wage (5.15/hr or higher in certain states) as compared to a Guest Worker for slightly less than that. Who the hell would you hire?

Not really, The America everyone knew back in the 60's and 70's isn't as strong anymore. we sold ourselves out. You can enforce laws all you want. but that will only bring even more people into this country because they still see this as the land of opportunity. and they will do what ever it takes to get here.

Of course it would, but it won't happen ... on the contrary, more "assimilation" between Canada, the U.S. and Mexico is on the cards ... big business is what counts, and big business is what this administration is listening to, not the American people ...

I think so the people didn't want it in the first place. It was pushed on us. Its a globalists tactic. Bush senior is a globalists. and so is Junior. And it is not racism.
