I would just say maybe a salad. Chicken pot pie is sort of a one dish meal so it doesn't need any sides to it. Maybe some fruit, or regular salad, and some dinner rolls. Then make a dessert, like a cake or ice cream. Maybe strawberry shortcake- very summery.

I think the perfect way is to have a selection of appetizers like deli meats, olives, prawn kebabs, brushetta and vegetable crisps in the living room get your partner to act as host and serve drinks and introduce, or talk to people in there while your finishing the main dish that way, your guests get time to talk and have a drink, you get to finish the main, you can serve dinner straight to the table when your ready without people waiting and honestly how much of the starter would you eat if you were stressing about the dinner.

More vegetables! My nutritionist says that ideally your plate should be 50% vegetables, so unless you really loaded up your pot pie with them, you've got room for more.
I second all the recommendations for a side salad. That will give you a degree of variety in your veggies (raw vs. cooked).

A little side salad would be good... or you could do a fruit salad with it.
Actually my family served coleslaw with pot pie now that I think about it....

Try a nice fruit salad or even deviled eggs. Also tomatoes and cucumbers would be nice for a summer supper side.

Asparagus spears would liven up the plate. Or just a simple spinach salad.

Serve a salad before dinner-it is light enough that it won't fill you up before your main course.

half a cob of corn with butter and ground black pepper would tie it up nicely and a nice frizze salad with roasted walnuts and balsamic dressing to end with
