I saw a question from someone who goes by the name of a demon in a movie expressing sympathy toward Satan. Saying we have only heard one side of the story by listening to God. I truly hope no one else is buying into such garbage. The fruitage Satan and his demons produce is hate, and death. They are not your friends who are trying to enlighten you, they are very deliberately trying to kill you by alienating you from your Creator. Satan does not deserve anybody's pity, he and his spirit clan are responsible for a huge amount of the pain and suffering you see in the world today. They are condemned to die and are trying to take us with them. Do not let yourselves be fooled. Revelation 12:12-9 - 2 Corinthians 4: 3 - 4 and 11:14

THAT'S RIGHT! The word of God says that Satan is like a roaring lion seeking whom to devour....He is the father of all lies and has only come to kill, steal and destroy.

They really don't need any help. The Bible gives you all the explanation you need to understand that Satan and his underlings are just subordinates of the Bible's God. For example, nothing in the book of Job happens without God's permission. How can Satan present any threat whatsoever if he always has to ask poppa God for permission? How can God be an omnipotent force if Satan can act without God's permission?

See, people "fear God" because God keeps Satan on his leash and makes the final decisions on when where and how Satan gets to terrorize anyone, hence, God is the core creator of not only good, but also evil.

You can be as selective as you like for your verses of the Bible, but I've read the whole thing twice over and studied it as well. The fact is that neither you or the person you criticize make much sense because Satan was never really an important figure in the Bible except as metaphor. The real issue, if God exists, is the relationship between humanity and God. Can we forgive God for being an abusive master in the past or will we continue to fume about the things we see as wrongs?

I understand what it's like an irresponsible kid with an aquarium and screw up the lives of my pets. Assuming God exists, at least God didn't screw up so badly that everything died! So yes, I suppose I could accept the melodramatic apology through the death of Jesus for God having created sin and thrust it manipulatively upon us like a father leaving a jar of cookies on the floor for a two year old, saying "DON'T EAT THOSE COOKIES" and then craftily walking away to leave the kid unattended. Heck. The kids were so oblivious to the concept of right and wrong he had to get uncle Satan to lead them to it. So much for reverse psychology! So now we're all damned thanks to the sin God conveniently planted in our way and we're supposed to hate the guys that have to ask God for permission first to do bad things.

Uh-huh. Well, I suppose what you're saying is that you lack the imagination to think about what it would be like to be in Satan's shoes. Have you ever had a boss that was a micromanager? "Hey, boss! Can I take a crap now?" That's what it's probably like. I mean, they are SUPPOSED to be tormenting us, right? But they have to ASK PERMISSION FIRST?! What the heck?? Wasn't that already written into the Job description? I mean, seriously, they are not being treated as the torment professionals that they supposedly are... Or is God worried that they might not do the job well enough without his looking over their shoulders?

Face it. The Satan job - assuming it even exists - has GOT to suck. I've had a sucky job with a micromanager boss like that before, so I suppose I can relate. I mean, it's REALLY obnoxious to have to ask for permission to do your job!

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of God plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

It is wonderful how much time good people spend fighting the devil. If they would only expend the same amount of energy loving their fellow men, the devil would die in his own tracks of ennui.

Amen Daniel. The Devil has nothing but contempt for God and all humans, and deserves nothing but the punishment due Him.

There is not any sympathy for satan from me neither. He is evil and all the evil is going down with him, and evil be no more.

"I was there when Jesus Christ had his moment, of doubt and pain, Pleased to meet you, hope you guessed my name"
Is that what your getting at? Christ taught us to love our enemys, and if ever there was an enemy, your Satan is truly one.
