My lincoln markVIII remote start only unlocks the car after I keep pressing it repetitivly.?

The only way I can unlock my car without the alarm going off is to use the remote starter, but it only unlocks it after pressing it about 20 times repetititivly. The battery is good on the remote, any suggestions?

Are you sure the battery is good? try holding the button down for a second or two

The remote may be week.
