Yes. It has separate chemicals is its body, that it mixes when threatened. When it does that, there is an explosion out of its rear.

Bombardier beetles are ground beetles (Carabidae) in the tribes Brachinini, Paussini, Ozaenini, or Metriini - more than 500 species altogether - that are most notable for the defense mechanism that gives them their name: They can fire a mixture of chemicals from special glands in their posterior.

YES! In the Southeastern USA they are VERY common!! We call 'em BOMBER beetles. Bombers for short.

Big *** beetle (Not from Liverpool England), builds up a load of acid in his butt and when threaten farts a deadly one!

Has a profound effect on predators.

yes. it has often been used to demonstrate intelligence in creation. However, its been debated. There was a bit of a tiff between hitching and dawkins on it. also, behe has some interesting info on it.
