Some pet shops do sell wormer medication but it only works if that is the kind of worms your dog has. You really need to take a stool sample into the vets and they will be able to tell you exactly what she has and then give you the best medication to take care of it. Worm medication is rather inexpensive whether you buy it from the vet or the pet store.

The wormer you will be able to puchase at petco or petsmart will not kill certain worms. The worms that puppies have are among them. You will need to get strogid from a vet. You can not get it over the counter. All puppies should be wormed using strongid. It is inexpensive. Try 1800petmeds.com. You may be able to get it through them without a prescription.

Panacur, which the vets have used for years is now otc. You may have to look, but I've seen it in some of the online stores. It will kill round, hook, and whip.
Strongid, as stated above, will not kill tapeworm. You would know if you had tape, They come out about 1 1/2 long , white, and shrivel up to a grain of rice.
There is an otc for tape. The generic version of Droncit, the one that the vets use, is Praziquantel. It has been otc for about 2 yrs now.

I wouldn't fool around with over the counter medications.. especially with a pet this young, and of that weight.
I use to use them.. not anymore. There are so many different varieties of 'worms,' that you need to know exactly what you're treating. Call your vet, see if you can't make payments, if it's a bit too pricey. When it comes to our 4 legged angels, I wouldn't treat this lightly..
Been there, done that :(

There is no good, effective or safe OTC wormers. You need to contact the vet to get the apprpriate wormer for the wormers you are dealing with as weel as the right dosage for your dog.You also should take a stool sample in to your vet to have it tested to see what worm(s) you are actually dealing with.

safe-guard it kills roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and tapeworms. Get for your dogs size. it is a wormer that does a three day dosage and very safe for dogs and puppies. It can be bought in the pets section at ur local farm and home supply store. (i think walmart may carry it also) Nemex2 it is a liquid that kills only roundworms and hookworms and u can buy it at a local farm and home supply. I do not trust deworm wormer it killed one of my puppies and it was not overdosed.

My dad used to get the stuff for our horses at Tractor Supply Company and it seems like maybe they have it for dogs, or dogs could use the same stuff. You could check there. But that dog sounds sick and should probably see a vet anyway to be safe.

Use Pyrantel. Follow the directions on the bottle.
DO NOT buy any of the crappy Hartz-type dewormers. They can make your dog ill.

You can find it but you really should see the vet. You can't put a price on the health of your cat.
He or she may die if you don't get it right!
