Children should be taught about all types of every popular religion. Religion is a current event right now, with all the war and violence happening because of it. Kids deserve to be informed, too.

No. Religion should not be taught in public schools as every one who sends their kids are not hindus.

In this case, Canada has a very good system in place where the school system is divided in two streams.

One is the Roman Catholic system.

The other one is the public system

In the Catholic system, christianity, I think, is a very important part of the education otherwise there would not be a seperate system.

Together with teaching christianity, they also teach their young girls to come to school in micro mini skirts.

This would not be acceptable to most parents who come from diverse backgrounds.

By teaching vedanta in public schools you are imposing on the rights of those who have chosen another religion.
Hinduism is not a religion where proselytising takes place.

If [parents want to teach kids their own religion together with their other education, separate schools should be there for choice.

In this case, canada has racial or religious discrimination which starts at the school system level whilst boasting equal rights and democracy.

I dont understand. Is this not confusing when canadians go around preaching rights?

These are the human rights violations that I see.

a. Terrorists welcomed into canada with open arms.

b. Systems in place that make no sense of equal rights.

c. Special Privileges for Human rights violators.

I am a teacher, and I think that religion should be put back in schools, so that students learn the various histories of them. This would not be for the purposes of converting, but for the knowledge aspect of it. The students need to become more culturally aware if they are to compete as a world power. Do you think different cultures are not being taught in China's school system? Or how about Japan's?
The United States are the only ones that took religion out of our schools, and brought metal detectors in, and we're behind China and Japan.
That should tell somebody something.

If it is it should be taught in a comparative religions curriculum available to High School Seniors only as an elective if they wish to take it. Before the senior year of high school schools need to concentrate on the basics so that when a pupil reaches college they will not feel behind.

NO, I Think That any kind of philosophy and or religion should not be taught in our public schools. It causes too much uproar over nothing. I just don't think it's a wise idea.

We should leave religion out of the public schools. Let us learn religion from our parents and temples.

We shouldn't teach anything religious in public schools. That would be corruption of the youth.
