I was saved at 4 years old and i have always loved the Lord and had a heart for missions. When i was very young i said i wanted to be a missionary. i was aways trying to bring people to Christ. I pretented to preach (even though i'm a girl..lol) and i always played church. I grew up a bit and became selfish and afraid and from then on every time i heard of missionarys or countries that needed missionarys i would turn my back to the idea of ever going over there. I've always just said oh i'll be a missionary here but whenever i said that i just didn't feel right. I knew there was something more i should do.I have no desire for any career, i want to have a family and serve God with a my future husband (when we get married) wherever he calls us. I feel that God has really given me the ability to go serve him whereever he wants me to. Slowly but surely i'm opening up to it. The man who i am intrested in but not serious with yet also has the same vision and passion. Am i cut out for this?

If God calls you to be a missionary He will equip you. Don't worry, He has your life in His hands.

One thing I would reccomend is finding an "Acts 29" church. It is a biblical denomination based on treating the local areas like a mission.
Also, I would reccomend researching some missionary orginizations, and getting in touch with them.
The Acts 29 approach (named Acts 29 in a reference that the Great Commision didn't end with Acts 28, and is still called for today) mindset is to just go where you are called and start a church, usually in a more industrialized city/country. If you feel pulled toward more of a 3rd world area, find a missionary orginization. They usually put you through training in all areas of missionary work, and set up your arrival for you. My friends Mike and Tammi Rice are permenantly moving to kenya for the orginization www.starfishkenya.com. They are going to run the House of Hope, which is a missionary orphanage. It's one of the most wonderful missionary groups I've ever seen.

Sounds like you have the desire for it and that is what is most important. Being a missionary would be very difficult because it is a selfless lifestyle where you have put away comforts in order to minister to other people. If a person did something like this for the wrong reason (like prominence for example) they would not last long. If however, you decide to become a missionary because you love God, want to serve him and help people, then that is the right reason and He will bless your efforts many times over.

It could be that your calling is to be a mother and wife. Your missionary work begins in the home. You are cut out to do whatever God calls you out to do. He will give you the strength to do whatever he asks of you, just have faith. It could be that what your idea about what your calling was is not the same as God's idea. If you follow his will, you will find peace and he will provide an answer. If that means here, he will let you know. If that means in another country, he will lead both you and your future husband in the right direction. Just pray about it.

God bless.

I think a better question to ask is "Am I called for this?"
It sounds like you have the desire, but with that you have to be willing to go ANYWHERE that God leads you.
I think you should look into some agencies - there are some great ones in Colorado Springs, CO. Maybe talk to some of the missionaries at one of those places and get some insight. If you can't do that, talk to your pastor and see what advice he can give you.

I would like to say you are wonderful posting like this. but your wishes are confusing. Being in Christ new is a wonderful thing. Confusing if you don't read your Bible to find your answers and listen with your heart. Being a Missionary is a wonderful calling. It can be from as you say to right in your home town or over seas. IF God wants you to travel you must put the first foot forward and God will take the rest. But remember to take the first step in every aspect of your journey. Faith is the way God works. Your faith will take you far. Learn how to activate your faith. I have taken my faith beyond the worlds belief. Taking a first step will show your faith. Walking in the Sand your prints are first seen then His beside you. Later there is just his, carrying you. I have no clue how you are in the Lord but you sound honest. Susan Milani

I believe the Lord is already calling you, and deep down you know it, there is alot of missionaries that stay in the U.S. or their own country as well, we had some family of our church go to Tucson, Arizona recently to speak to college students and such, you may try something like that out first and then move on to something as God calls you to do. God Bless you in your decisions.

I am not sure what you are cut out for but you will know. When the time for you to do you will know. It will be your decision to do and I hope you do. I don't want you to end up like in the belly of a whale (just saying). I think you should pray to God. Not only pray but talk to Him. He can give a better answer than I can. You might can find someone in the Bible with the same problem.

I sure think so =) Growth takes time, and it sounds like you have experienced it most definitely! If you want to go to Costa Rica, let me know ~ I have really good friends who are permanent missionaries down there! In my church and personal family there have also been missionaries (some short term) to Norway, South Africa, Thailand, Phillipines and Israel (pray for them please, it is bad right now). Other than that, blessings and may your prayers be answered =)

It sounds like God had a plan for you that he put in your heart at an early age. Just go where ever he leads you. :) I was saved and I asked to be baptized at age 4.. the preacher didn't really think it was possible. I was finally baptized at age 8. God touched me at a very early age as well.. don't let anyone say you were brainwashed. God Bless...
