It's been like 6 months since the pain started. I don't have terrible pain ALL the time, it's on and off. Sometimes I need help to get undressed because I can't pick up my right hand. (I'm not joking) I saw a doctor a few months ago who said it was nothing, and then I went to a chiropracter several times, and I have a masseuse coming to my house once a week. Nothing seems to help.

I'm thinking that maybe it's because there is an air condition duct right above my shoulder in work and this may have caused it? What do you call it? (When an air condition damages something on your body, like sometimes the lips get lopsided) I wanna ask the doctor about it.

I really appreciate your answers.
Thanks.

I have a suggestion that may help. I don't know how you feel about alternative medicine, but it did wonder for my shoulder and upper back pain. I, too was hurting severely, so bad it felt like I had broken my collar bone.. I hurt from the top of my shoulders, to the collar bone, to the shoulder blades and near my spine. I went to regular doctors who told me the same thing. Finally, I went and seen a doctor of chinese medicine who speiclaizes in accupuncture.. I though ti would hurt, but it felt GREAT!!! It was a BIG pain relieft for me and since then I have had no pain!!!! I kid you not. I never though ti would work but afterwards, i felt to so relaxed and pain free.. I went for a couple more treatments and since then I have had not pain.

I don't know what it's called when an air conditioner damages soemthing, but this sounds like it might be carpal tunnel.
Has your doctor checked you for that?

Either way, get a new doc!
There is no reason whatsoever that you should be in pain at all, let alone off and on for 6 months.

In the meantime though, maybe try a damp towel on your shoulder, then put a heating pad on top of the towel. I know that sometimes wet heat helps a lot.

Hope I helped, and I hope you feel better really soon!

I think spinal pain has a lot to do with stress. Having someone help undress you should help more than anything else.
Continue going to your chiropractor. Forget about your parents faith in doctors. They are Pushers. You need to do streches where you push your neck forward and backwards and side to side. You hold each position 10 seconds then relax. You should do them when you wake up, and before engaging in strenuous exercize. You can get pics of these streches online or in most dictionaries. I've never heard of an air conditioner causing pain, but if it is in your head then it can be true. The spine, and nervous system is very sensative to things like this. So turn off the ac. Sweating is the best possible way to detox your body. One reason modern man is unhealthy is because so many of us fail to sweat. Good Luck

I don't think it's because of the air duct at work. You have injured something in your body somehow and it needs to be treated. Get a second opinion from another Dr., try a Sports Medicine Dr. In the mean -time, roll up a medium sized towel. Lay flat on your back with the towel under your neck, and no pillow under your head. You should feel a gentle pressure. Move the towel to where you are feeling the pressure in the areas that hurt. Try to lay like that for 15 minutes several times a day. It works for me, I've had neck pain periodically since I was a kid.

Look into it further because with that condition, it can't be nothing. I hope you are not having arthritis. I have pain in my neck, back and upper right arm, but my situation is different. I was in a very bad car accident and I ended up with the spine in the back of my neck pushing outward causing pain in my neck, back and upper right arm. I know the pain you you are in. I am sure you don't sleep well either. Please get it checked, even if you have to go to more than one doctor because we all know that not all doctors are good. Ask to get a MRI on your neck and shoulder. I hope you will get some answers and get well soon. God Bless you.

First, tell your manager that the a/c vent is blowing on your shoulder and causing you pain. There are nifty little diffusers that will redirect the a/c. If your manager is unwilling or unable to fix that problem - wear a shawl or a scarf over that shoulder - not fashionable but will protect you from the cold air. Try applying heat to your shoulder when you get home. You may also want to try yoga or taking glucosamine (ask your doctor first). Try changing your pillows at home. One more suggestion - stretch and move frequently while at work - it helps to get the blood flowing.

You may also be able to get workman's compensation for your doctors visits if you can prove that the vent is causing your pain.

I would say it may be stress related or possibly the way you sleep. If you saw a doctor go see another doctor and get a second opinion. If a chiropractor and a massuse dont help I dont know.
What works for me is a warm shower or bath to loosen up the muscles. After that a good stretch.
I have a very labor intensive job and have strained muscles and definitely have alot of back pain this is why i say warm shower and stretch works. Works for me but might not work for you.
Hope this helps, Jim

from what you described, if the cause is the air condition duct blowing cold air on your right shoulder constantly and on a daily basis, and there are not other tangible causes, try asking your employer if you can simply move to a different area of your workplace. hopefully, stopping the cold air will help and keep your shoulder, rotator cuff from freezing up. other possible causes, could be a pinched nerve somewhere in your cervical spine, or possibly you have slightly torn something in your neck or shoulder. to help you in your recovery, try exercises that emphasis toning and strengthening your upper body and trapezius muscles located at that back base of your neck. the stretching routines in yoga and pilates will help you with the flexibility. and last but not least, inversion therapy. whenever i have any sort of back or spinal ailments, i jump into my inversion rack out in my back yard and it really does the trick, relieving all the stress on my vertebrae from heavy lifting and other strenuous exercises. best wishes with your recovery.

The AC was a credible hint. I'm no doctor, but it sounds like the onset of arthritis, easily exacerbated by and sometimes brought on by, being directly below cold blowing air. Do conventional analgesics help alleviate the pain( aspirins, topical ointments, etc.)?
