I have a budgie/parakeet that I want to find a new home for. I have two cats and they seem to taunt the poor little thing. Not to mention he is a bit annoying sometimes. He will start screetching for no reason and the only way to shut him up is to whistle. I can't whistle...you can imagine how annoying that is! He's all yellow, and doesn't like to be taken out of his cage or touched in general. So he would not be good for kids...any suggestions on what to do with him? San Marcos, TX

Reguardless of what ANY IDIOT says...DON"T LET IT GO WILD!!!The poor thing will die! Either put an ad in the newspaper free to agood home or give it to a retirement home where they would prbably love it! Just don't let it out because it is not an outside bird it will die! Any kind of nursing home or handicapped home would most likely take it quickly! Good luck!

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SanMarcosTXFreecycle/

Go to the above website and join (it's free), then post your bird as an "OFFER" and wait for people to respond. This is a wonderful organization that helps people give away things they want to get rid of, and ask for things they need or want. There are no charges or fees. My local freecycle allows pets to be offered and taken, but check your local website's rules to be sure they are OK with it! Just be sure you tell everything about him the way you did here so that people know what they are getting!

make sure it goes to a reputable organization. Don't offer it as free in an ad, this results in abusive situations much of the time. If you give the bird away to someone make sure it goes to a good home with a responsible owner.
Good luck

I used to have a budgie but I left it in chicago with my ex. Then I found out he killed by letting a teflon pan overheat and smoke up the house. I would love to take it but I live in Florida sorry. Good Luck. They are such cute birds.

does your local newspaper have a listing for free pets? I know ours does and it doesn't cost anything to list them. Maybe your newspaper would have something like that? Might be worth a try to check into. Good luck

well don't be cruel and leave it some where it is over 100 some places. try and find a local pet shop (not a big name one like pet smart like won't likely take it) and as long as there is nothing else wrong w/ your bird, clean it up and take to a local pet shop.

If I lived closer I would take your bird. But I live in Indiana. All I can say is take him to a good pet store or put an ad in the paper. I would want to make sure he is getting a good home. Please becareful who gets him.

You can advertise your bird in the local newspaper, or a pet shop.

Do NOT get a circular cage, which makes the bird get an obsesive disorder (Turning desease?).
