In a religious standpoint you need to obey your father and mother, but also if your bf apoligizes and prooves to your dad he didnt your dad should have the respect to let you to date. If you are over 18 and live on your own you focus on what you think is best for your life. If you are planning on getting married then your spousal rights go over your fathers but your not married so I would trust your dad

I am an abuse survivor too - my parents didn't believe me because my Mom was close to my abuser and thinks he walks on water....I've had to be the one to send him a Christmas card (not like I really WANTED to) and my dad died last summer and I had to spend a bunch of time with the man who abused me. Somehow I held together. Don't be afraid to keep telling until someone believes you, it's okay if others don't believe you - they may have their reasons but don't give up and find someone you feel comfortable talking to who can help you through it. Don't be afraid of going to counselling if that makes you feel better. Safe hugs, gio
