The connection with acne is more common with dairy products. try eliminating that.
Citric acid is actually beneficial.

Babe there is no link but there is also no reason why you won't have pimples even at 24! I am a dermatologist and all I can say to you is make sure you are using a good cleansing and toning routine including using a facial exfoliator at least three times a week. Cleanse and tone twice daily and always, always remove your make up before going to bed. I know it's a cliche but it really is important. A facial such as a Guinot Hydradermie (avaliable worldwide) can be really beneficial to the skin as it cleans under the acid mantle and removes dirt and oil from deep below the skins top layer (epidermis). Make sure you use an oil free cleanser and toner if you experience alot of shine during the day and stay away from certain products...I won't name them on here but if you want to know more leave me your email and I can also recommend some excellent skincare products that do work and help to eliminate the problem! x

My son is allergic to citric acid and it gives him pimples (amongst other side effects) so it is possible. It's also possible that you've just still got pimples....
