You feel an overwhelming desire to go out and use goods and services on poor countries to make people join your religion...

A while ago I heard of one group that was going to help some poor, I think maybe in an area after the tsunami. Had a whole truckload of food and stuff, but the people would not agree to convert to their religion so the missionaries left without helping them at all. If you become one, do not be like them.

well the most secure way is to pray becauseit is God's work you are going to do and praying is the safest way to what God has planned for you? other way you can know is that do you the urge to tell people bout Jesus? Are you determined to do whatever it takes to glorify GOD? Have you made God #1 in your life, do you a true relationship with him? I am not taking about being religious God is looking for someone who has an intimate relationship with him.

If none of these criterias match your then i am sorry you weren't called to be a missionary. Because you can't be preaching one thing and you are living another.

hope this helps GOD BLESS!

It seems like a simplistic answer but: Prayer. But Remember in our praying we must: ask, seek, and knock. Here are some things that can help:

*Take a missions education course: i suggest the Worldwide perspectives course (It shares God's heart for the nations). You should understand God's heart to evangelize the world if you're called to do that.

*Go on a short term trip. It'll give you a taste of what missionary life is.

*Pray for God to put a people group on your heart.

*Share with brothers and sisters at your church, and have them pray with you.

*Speak with missions' agencies and they too can give you insight.

*Speak to missionaries who are currently on the field.

*Make decisions that will not keep you from going on the missons field. (IE: God has called me not to be a missionary but to teach at a missionary school overseas in the future- therefore whoever i date needs to be open to going overseas). Also decisions like mortgages, etc.

Hope that helps.

Well Paul knew when he was blinded by the very light of Christ.

Nowadays people are "called" when they just want to do it. It is not illegal to be a missionary without such a vivid experience like Paul had but please don't lie and say you were "called" into it.

God will put it in your heart. Then when you hear about the situation where he wants you to go you will be like I want to help and I CAN make this place better. basically pray about it. God called me to be a pastor and not till recently did I find out its was a childrens pastor

I think you will know. God will tell you. If you think you should, but you keep coming up with excuses, especially bad ones, not to; then I would think thats God telling you to. Especially over along period of time. If it is constantly coming up, over & over, and you keep making excuses not to, then I would say you suppose to. When you think about doing it do you smile and feel happy? Is it alittle scary, but at the same time thrilling? I think you know the answer to your question. Pray!
