A baby is ready to potty train when they can run, I don't mean the toddle run, I mean a real kick up your heels run. Only then are they in control of the muscles need to potty train. If your son is able to do this, which I highly doubt, then get rid of the pull ups during the day, only use them at night. Buy some "Big Boy" underwear and tell him that big boys go in the potty. Reward him when he does this, and don't belittle when he doesn't. He will learn eventually and don't get too mad when he has an accident. tell him he is wet, let him stay wet for about a minute while you clean up the mess, then clean him up. Tell him he is wet and ask him if he likes being wet, tell him when he pees in his pants he will be wet. Also another hint is to buy a potty chair, and whatever room you are in then bring it with you. Ask him at least 2 times an hour if he needs to potty, if he says yes, take him immediately. When he learns to control the bladder muscles and can go on demand, then work on aim. Put a few froot loops or cheerios in the toilet and tell him to hit them, or put dish soap in and tell him to make bubbles. Sounds kooky I know, but it really works. and half the fun for the boy is to actually hit them, and then flush . They do love to flush, lol

I have a 15 month old. I bought a potty seat and I have let her sit on it with her diaper on- It stayed in the front room for a while. Then we moved it to the bathroom and she sat for a while longer. We have now started sitting on the potty before her bath with out her diaper on. She is now starting to use the potty and have a "party" when she goes before her bath. She has even been in the tub and has pointed to the potty chair, I took her out put her on it and she went.
My point is this - I have slowly introduced each stage. I will continue introducing each stage. I am going off of her as to whether she is ready or not. Our next stage will be sitting on the potty after she wakes up in the morning. Then I will move to after nap time. Once we have those down, I will put her in big girl panties for the day.
This is working for us so far.
Good luck.

Your son may not yet be ready to potty. But here are some suggestions. Let him go when you would normally go (before and after sleeping - naps and bedtime, and before bathing). Additional times would be when every he might exhibit signs of needing to go. I have heard that boys are more difficult to potty train but do not be discouraged. My son is now 2 and a half and still in the learning process. We are making progress weekly. We received a potty training kit from Charmin - it contained a story and a chart for stickers. My son eagerly anticipates being able to get stickers. The categories are for such things as Telling he needs to potty to washing his hands afterward. My wife and I are resigned to the process taking a little while but hope to have him potty trained prior to our vacation to Disney World in December. Good luck to ya and remember - they do grow up too fast already!

umm..wait until he's actually ready?? Instead of forcing the issue I'm sure he didn't choose the pull ups. Boys are much harder. My son will have nothing to do with the potty, he walks over and flips it over. My daughter was a breeze, she was about 18 mos, I think. But my son is almost 3!!!

Try using cloth training pants rather than pull-ups. That way he'll be able to feel the wetness right away and get used to using the potty instead.

Just keep doing what your doing. You know he wants to if he will atleast sit on it. It might take a while. I know people who have 2 year olds and up that arent potty trained but they are on their way. Just let him sit there as long as he want, he just doesnt know when its gonna happen or how to make it happen.

My oldest son did not potty train until he was three. THEN it was after he watched the trash man. He asked what the man was doing and I told him, "He is taking your dirty stinky diapers away." He thought about it for a moment and said, "I need to go to the bathroom." He never wore another diaper. I asked him why and he said, "That man wasn't going to take MY dirty stinky diapers!" (The trash man got a nice note.) He was READY. Now my youngest was about two, he wanted to because his brother did. He wasn't quite ready and we have some night time bedwetting. You can't rush it. It WILL happen!

GET RID OF THE PULL UP'S. Why do people think these things work? Get him some underwear and after he pees on himself a couple of times he will want to use the toilet.

My mom told me that when my brothers were training that she put a dot of red nail polish in the toilet , where you would want them to aim at. It makes it like a game for them. You have to drain the toilet first so the polish will dry!! It worked for both her boys!! Good Luck!!!

Don't rush him..Allow him to go when he's ready..But don't want until he's about 4-5 years old..LOL
Every time you go, let him go..Buy him some big boy underwear, his favorite character...Also..not sure of your situation but talk to his father and have his father to take him every time he goes as well.
My husband did it with our son... Don't rush him..Again..Don't wait until he's about 4/5 years old..either
