Personally I don't see a difference between getting a picture or phrase tattooed on and getting makeup tattooed on. I've talked to another member friend and she doesn't see a difference either. Do you see a difference between a "regular" tattoo and getting makeup (eyeliner, lipliner, eyebrows) tattooed on.

A tattoo is a tattoo in my book, but I can see where there would be a difference in mindset between a person who has meaningful tattoos and one who gets permanant makeup. And I agree that tattooed makeup is all about vainity.
And yes, we are a pretty strict bunch.

Thanks lashes. I appreciate your input as well as other non-LDS. My point in putting For Mormons only was to try to get serious answers only. So far so good.

Thanks Melissa. It makes me feel better for my friend, that other LDS women have tattooed eyeliner, and at least in you and your Mom's cases it hasn't kept you out of the temple.

There is no difference between a regular tattoo and makeup being tattooed on, but you friend might want to consider that her body is a temple and should not be defaced with grafitti.

Let me start off by saying that I am not a mormon, so I apologize for butting in and breaking your first rule, but I do have tattoos so I think my opinion should be welcome.
I have no religious affiliation, but as a tattooed person I think that getting permanent makeup goes a step beyond just getting a regular tattoo. For me, my tattoos are an expression of who I am, and what I have been through in my life, they have meaning to me. Permanent makeup is done for the sole purpose of vanity, and to get something of no value or meaning permanently put on your body just to look better is something that I feel personally offended by. Getting a tattoo is your choice, but as far as I'm concerned it's a choice that should be made for a heartfelt reason, not just to save a few minutes in eyeliner application time.

Not if it is disallowed for religious purposes. I am not LDS but know many who are, and i live in SLC. And I cannot see the true LDS followers seeing a difference between tatoos as eyeliner or regular tatoos. The body is sacred and not to be messed with. i would have to question the validity of one's seriousness in their beliefs if they think tatooing eyeliner or lips on is ok, but don't believe a tattoo is. Vanity (a.k.a. Pride) is one of the 7 Deadly Sins, so I would think it a slap in the face if she claims to be a true follower. Sorry I know you asked for Mormons only, but other religions (such as mine) forbid alteration of the body in any form. Our body is a temple, a gift from God to be treated and respected as such, no matter what, and I think many non-LDS feel the same way.....

Both my mom and I are LDS, and we both have eye liner tattoo's. I got the idea from another LDS woman, who I shared a calling with. It has not kept us out of the temple, and the bishop knows about it because I told him. When we are resurrected obviously it will be gone. I think it's okay because it's okay to wear makeup. I wouldn't get any other kind of tattoo, one that added to the look of my body or made it stand out.

I don't wear make up very often so getting eyeliner tattoed on isn't something I would be interested in. However, I know other LDS women who have had it done and I don't see anything wrong with it.

Sorry I'm not a Mormon but Marie Osmond is and she had the eye liner tattooed on. I think the makeup tattos are less offensive.

I would probably choose to get a tattoo of the infinite sign with the quote "And in that moment, I swear we were infinite" from a book I read called The Perks of Being A Wallflower. I'd probably put it somewhere around my rib or hip area.

The only difference is that she put the tattoo in a place that she would normally put makeup. She wouldn't normally draw pictures on her body with makeup I assume.
