How do I manage to support 5 other adults that live in my house when I only bring home $300 a week and they dont work?
They wont quit asking me for money, cigs, or my medicine. I was in a car wreck this past tuesday and got pain medicine for my injured neck. They wont quit asking me for every thing I have. I cant support them and they know that. How do I manage this? What can I say to them or do to get them to leave my money, cigs and medicine alone? And make them realize I cant support 5 other adults on 1 income?

I get what yall are saying. But the 5 other adults that live with me. Well, one is my sister (not to mention her 2 kids), ones my older brother, one is my mother and the other is my brothers friend (who by the way is handicap). My brother refuses to get a job and help. But he is blood, I cant exactly leave him sitting on his ***. My sister, she has a lot of mental probs and uses that as an excuse as to why she "cant" work. My mother, most the time she spends out of state any way. No, I dont own the house, I rent. And here in the state of Missouri. Once you allow some one to stay at your house for 3 days. They are legally residence there. And cannot be kicked out. As far as me moving. Well, my rent is $650 a month, then utilities, food cuz there are also 2 kids here under the age of 9. (one of which is still in diapers). So how do I move out, if im all any one here has to depend on?

Why should you HAVE to support 5 adults? How about asking them to leave? Give them a time limit (say 3 weeks) to get and job and help support the household or they are out.

You need to let them know that they have to start working. Don't give them the things that they need (except maybe for medicine if that adult has a serious disease, but if not, then don't) and soon, they'll see that they have to start working to get what they want. Since I think that you obviously own the house, you reserve the right to kick them out if you don't see them making much of an effort to stand up on their own.

You have your own life, and you can't let them walk all over you. Tell them that if they don't start working, you'll be forced to kick them out. Since they are adults, you don't hold any sort of obligation to them. They have to be able to take care or themselves and not rely on you for everything.

Other adults doesn't even sound like they are your family. Do you rent or own your property? It might be easier to move away and leave them sitting. You have to learn to say NO and stick with it.

You mantion 5 adults but you did not mention who are they. Parents, brother, sister? If they are your blood relatives. You have to support them. But who can work to earn money if they are not taking their responsibility then that is your weakness. You are not influence them to earn money or you are not asking them to do. Actually you are not halping them you are making them handicap. In future they can't do anything. By showing opportunity or help them to earn money. But who really handicap and can't work to earn money. Then you have to work hard for them. Because they are your blood relatives.

Kick them out. They're adults and need to stand on their own 2 feet.

Hide your money, cigs, and meds. Get away Because they aren't going to change.

You can't do what you can't do...take care of #1, yourself...and with a neck injury...hang on to those meds...you have to make it crystal clear they can not leach off you.
