From a show on TV, my daughter naturally has become curious as to whether or not big foot exists. If you think big foot is real, please explain how it is possible. If you don't believe, please explain how it is not possible. Your answers can help me explain both sides to her. Thanks!

I really don't know if I believe or not.

Reasons I might believe are: There have been so many big foot, Yeti, abominable snow men sightings all over the world from people from very different cultures making the same claims. He is about 9 ft tall, hairy large body with extremely long arms and legs. There have been photos and casts of foot prints and countless stories of peoples encounters with the creature. Some of the witnesses sound very convincing.

Reasons not to believe: No one can produce hard evidence. Out of all these numerous sightings, no one is yet to bring forth a body, DNA. They can't even provide scientist with something as simple as a straind of hair for analysis. The photos that have been taken are always blurry and out of focus. How can an animal of this size continue to elude us with all of our current technology? And lastly, there have never been any remains(bones) recovered.

To conclude, I think the legend of big foot is just that, a legend. Big foot is a myth, a bedtime story best told around camp fires. But the fact that scientist take it seriously enough to get funding and go on expeditions to explore the possiblity, makes you wonder.

I hope I have helped.

Ask yourself this; how many species are known to man? How many species does man continue to discover? Does the fact that man wasn't aware of a species previously mean that the species didn't exist?

So, yes, I believe that it's possible that Bigfoot (whatever it may be) exists and simply hasn't been documented yet. Is it possible that there's no such thing? Absolutely! It's not like it would be the first case of a wide spread hoax. Take crop circles for example. One day the farmers of America just came out and showed their secret to making crop circles. How do so many people who don't even know each other perpetuate the same hoax? Simply put, they all know the same things about crops and farming. When they see it on TV and how much publicity those other farmers are getting, it's no leap that they'd want some of that attention too, and they know how to get it.

If big foot wwas real, there would be stuffed samples in museums across the world, or live specimens in our zoos. Like every single other animal we've ever seen on this planet.

The simple fact that one has never been caught, and never been seen by anyone other than non-credible sources with no evidence but grainy film footage or plaster casts of dubious footprints, is proof enough that they do not exist.

But people lie about it either to make money or to get some notoriety.

Somethings are true. Somethings arnt. I kind of belive in big foot god put all kinds of animals and god works in mysterious ways. They showed how we evolved from animals and maybe there is a gene in big foot that didnt let him evolve all of the way. People get really curious and they may search to far for the answers but they can be right in front of you. People dress up as big foot from time to time to just mess with other people. BUt the only way we can know for sure is through science. People lie, science doesnt.

I have never believed in big foot and actually a few years ago they said it was a hoax. The man who started the hoax died and his wife felt it was time to let the world know. She showed the things he used to make the foot prints. Look it up on the Internet.

Yes, I do. About fifteen years ago, I saw a smaller version along the wood line. I live in a rual area, and close to Navy base. I caught site of it's face, and almost wrecked my truck. I thought at first it must be a large dog or something, but it was upright, and it's arms were like that of a dogs begging stance. It's face was slightly hairy, but it's eyes had a look of integence. I never told anyone this for fear of them thinking I've lost my mind, but I know what I saw, and never saw it again. Lots of stuff we don't know yet.

You ask alot. Of course it is possible. Anything is possible.
No need to squelch imagination. You want her to be creative don't you?
He's not going to be like Harry, tho. He is hermitized for a reason.
Some day he may have no choice but to trust and come on out of the shadows. Its just an old ugly hairy family that disassociated from society centuries ago. We'll all drive buy and drop off food for them some day.

There could be a person out there with long hair and larger feet because they've lived in the wilderness so long that they've began changing to fit survival better. Now to say that person/people is a different species(sasquatch), might be going a bit too far. But I guess that all depends on how much they would have evolved by now.

As many humanoid creatures as have lived in the past (Neanderthal, homo erectus, etc.), it's possible that a small group of one of them survived. I'm not sure how big an area they would have to roam around in without mass sightings, though. I've heard that parts of the Northwest are pretty wild, though, so I'm keeping an open mind.

It is not possible. I watched one of the documentation about one guy who claimed himself as big foot years back, he made the hoax himself. It was on ABC. And read the article on the link below
