Some religions have a rule that says they must try to convert people. Some religions, like Wicca, lack that rule, thank the Goddess. I think many people feel that they can ear "brownie points" from thier God(s) by saving people. If you have to, just walk away from them. And show them by your actions you are a better person than they think

Because many groups (specifically Christians) think that their way is the "only truth" and that they must save our "misguided souls" and they do so by attempting to cram their beliefs down our throats.
