Because the Holy Spirit and the great deciever are at work now both at the same time in a huge way. It is clear to me that the total eartquakes around the world increasing by 50% since 1999 which Jesus said is "a birth pain" of the apocylpse is not just a coincidence. A birth pain means were right at the door and we have to make sure that as many people as possible don't fall into the anti-christ's deception (Which I believe to be Maitreya). The anti-christ is going to claim to be an alien that created humans(So the atheists will worship him also) that can solve all the world's problem's and he wil except for the most important one, sin, for two years until an asteroid crashes into earth, most likely in 2012 because the bible code, mayan calender, and nostradamus all predicted it. It is also the first and second trumpet in revelation.

I think you want to consider the person who is too focused on the subject. Yes, the world had a beginning, and it will, someday, end. Will it end as a result of war? Global Warming? Or will the world end in a more Biblical way? There are signs shown in the bible that signify the end of the world. We are seeing some of these signs now. Folks saw some of the signs centuries ago, too.

It's like this: The world is an on-going story, a serial to which there seems to be no end. And there are those impatient folks out there who only want to flip to the end of the story to see what happened, how it all turned out.

People can't let it go because there is a morbid fascination with doomsday, Armageddon, whatever. These people are fatalists with no hope for humanity.

But, I tend to agree with you, old boy; Let it happen. If it's gonna, it's gonna, and there ain't nothing' we can do to change it.

I know, I think that it is because we are getting into a NEW enlightment were people are just asking themselves questions about religion and stuff and not going with the flow. In my opinion it's all the media's fault. They keep doing movies of more and more religion. That the world is going to end, that God this Jesus that and blah, blah, blah...

My theory is that due to instantaneous 24/7 news, people hear about disasters constantly. Wars and natural disasters have always happened though. Incidentally, people have been expecting the end for at least 2000 years, and probably longer.

For many it's a defense mechanism. Talking about the "end times" keeps people from fully engaging their lives and the world around them RIGHT NOW! While worrying about the future, the present can be avoided.

well, some people are just insane... while most of us compare what is going on currently to different descriptions of the world's end. (tribulation, apocolypse, etc.) I personally don't think its gonna happen soon but the Bible and other books of reference don't give date or time.

People have acted like this for hundreds of years, people will never stop acting like it's the end of the world until the world ends,
all people die, or all people have there tongues ripped out.

Kinda like this, If someone told you in the future
you were going to get hit by a bus at 100 miles per hour, YOu'd be curious to know what day it was gonna happen.... It's just human nature.

I don't really know why people ask about "the end of the world" but they've been asking since the beginning of time.

Well, I think it has to do with the very-human question: "what is going to happen to me when I die?". Everything has an end and many people need to think that everything is gonna be all right with them.
