That depends on the aircraft and whether or not it is taking off, cruising or landing. A Boeing 747 takes off at 180mph, cruises at 565mph and lands at 160mph.

I took an American Airlines flight from London to NY and the 777 flew an average of 625 miles per hr at 40,000 ft. The airspeed and altitude were displayed on a cabin monitor.

On Jet Bluee we went approximatley 544 miles per hour.
On United we went 362 miles per hour.
It really depends on the pilot and the aircraft.

Small planes, much slower.
