If the Bible means nothing to some of you, then why answer questions concerning the Bible? I see answers like, "Your book means nothing to me," etc. etc. Then why bother? Is it because there's something deep down inside telling you, "Hey, God may be right!" Or are you just fishing for arguments like some of the rest?

Way to go! I'm so glad someone has finally asked this! I think deep down somewhere inside of these people they feel that God may really be right and they are fishing for arguments because they're afraid of what they don't fully understand. Though if they sat down and read the Bible or had a civilized conversation with a Christian about the Bible maybe they could understand things and wouldn't have to be so afraid!

This confuses a lot of these answerers:

The Bible is actually two different scriptures for two different ages. The New Testament is written to reveal the fact that the Lord is both Love and Wisdom. But the old testament is also written in parables and is indeed scripture.

"As regards the Word particularly, it has existed in every age, though not the Word we possess at the present day. Another Word existed in the Most Ancient Church before the Flood, and yet another Word in the Ancient Church after the Flood. Then came the Word written through Moses and the Prophets in the Jewish Church, and finally the Word written through the Evangelists in the new Church. The reason why the Word has existed in every age is that by means of the Word there is a communication between heaven and earth, and also that the Word deals with goodness and truth, by which a person is enabled to live in eternal happiness. In the internal sense therefore the Lord alone is the subject, for all goodness and truth are derived from Him" (Arcana Coelestia n. 2895).

I do it for a quick, mindless 2 pts.

If you'll notice, I didn't anwer your "homosexuals in the bible" question because it doesn't matter to me. I only answer the ones the you intentionally address to atheists and agnostics. I thought the way this worked was when people ask questions they're looking for opinions or answers. Guess I was wrong.

Because those who try and parade the bible as some sort of divine truth are spreading ignorance and idiocy, and need to be stopped for the good of mankind.

It's like this: If I see someone trying to recruit for members of the Ku Klux Klan by giving out free KKK robes, I'll do my best to show how the members of the KK doing so are ignorant, Palm-******* racist idiots. Just like I do for theists who try and proclaim the bible as any sort of truthfulness whatsoever.

YOUR problem is that you equate the fact that people are trying to stop the ignorance of your sky pixie with INTEREST in your sky pixie, which isn't the case.

In other words: people aren't "scared" of your sky pixie. People don't believe in your sky pixie. They just want to try and save other people from falling into your idiotic circle jerk

Job 39:10 Canst thou bind the UNICORN with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?

Because it says crap like that and people take it literally. They also pick and choose parts to justify their predjudices. Not to mention most atheists know the bible better than christians which is why we are atheists.

No, neither. It is because we want people to learn to think and reason for themselves, rather than believe EVERYTHING in a book without question. We want you to be a little skeptical of what people are telling you. If none of us thought for ourselves ever, and just accepted what we were told, black people would still be slaves, and women would have few rights.

Oh, I care. It's a great book, if you look at it for it's literary merits. I read the Bible how I'd read any other piece of literature--analytically and objectively. That's what critical reading skills are for.

Perhaps it is the Law that is in work on their conscience. They know they fall short of the Law, they know they are in need of a Savior. It is probably very intrigueing to them, yet the message is simple. We cannot earn salvation by our own reason or strength, it is by faith in Jesus that we can stand before God.

I care a lot about what the Bible says, because so many people are taken up with that superstition. Since those people affect me, their book of superstition affects me.
