he gets spanked everytime he barks but it dosen't help AT ALL, what should I do!!??

They have watch dog instincts and they will bark every time somone new comes up, thats just how they are. As long as they dont bite nobody and they hush after a min or two then just let them go. Its their nature to do this and you dont want to try and break them from something thats in their genes. Sorry I couldnt help u further.

I love Cesar Millan (aka the dog whisper)...your dog is the pack leader...to stop this behavior, YOU have to become the pack leader...Cesar has a show on Satellite called the dog whisper...he also has books and videos (I do not work for Cesar....because of him, I am no longer the crazy lady that thinks she is a dog), this may give you an insite(sp?) on how to train yourself to be the pack leader. Also, ck out other dog training books!

This is very normal. They are the kind of dogs that have to know/get used to other people. If spanking him doesnt help, I suggest putting him in an obedience class.

Yep. My aunt got one for her dog and now he just has a very low growl and then shuts up with that collar on. He used to bark incessantly. It was really annoying.

It's a Mini Schnauzer. They're bred to be watch dogs. It's what they DO.
The closest thing to a solution we have found is to let her do it a couple of times, then tell her to SETTLE and praise her when she is quiet. She is rewarded for doing her job.
