he's a great guy but very sensitive and easily offended ... but he constantly talks with food in his mouth and it simply grosses me out!

he doesn't live with us... i only have to put up with it when i see him on holidays. I'm just always afraid that he spits on my plate.

My Father passed away when he was 84...he did that all his life...it is a habit that can not be broken...if it was going to be a problem for you, you should have addressed the situation before you got married...obviously his life partner has the ability to get beyond it....you will have too as well or it will become a problem between you and your life partner...after all ...unless Daddy in Law is living with you, how many time a year do you have to deal with this???

hand him a napkin and say, (politely), hun, you spit some of your food out", hopefully he will cover his mouth and get that hint... if not you Might have to just live with it
