The history you studied and the history we studied vary regarding the U.S stealing land from Mexico. It's so far in the past and so unprovable either way that it is no longer relevant in any intelligent discussion. Crossing the border and working illegally in any country is worthy of discussion because the issues are in the present and need to be resolved. Almost all of the information one needs is available for making an informed decision rather than reacting from emotion. The leader of a country is supposed to do that which is best for the country and not to react in haste nor from emotion. I don't think Bush is reacting in haste, yet neither do I think he is reacting without emotion. The remarks you see on this site, largely, are reactions of emotion and have very little sound thought behind them. While your argument has thought, it has little validity since it's an issue for historians to resolve.
I agree, Que viva la amnestia!
Gracias por tus observaciones.

You don't read much do you? If you had ever opened a history book and read about the Mexican War you would learn that the United States and Mexico went to war over disputed land claims in the Republic of Texas. When the war ended the Mexican government agreed, AGREED to sell a large tract of land (the Mexican Cession) to the United States. We paid you and you ceded the land to the U.S. It was a great deal for the U.S. but the Mexican government needed the money more than they wanted the land so you sold it and we bought it.
Please explain how that was stealing on our part? You simply made a stupid land deal and we came out of it smelling like a rose and you've been angry ever since. For instance, lets suppose you ran a used-car dealership and you sold me (a white guy) a used car (that was worth $10,000 for $13,000) You offered it for $13,000 and I agreed to that price. Later, after I talked with my friends and learned you had gotten the better end of the deal would it be fair for me to come back to the dealership and demand my money back? Would you give me the money back? Of course not, you would argue that I should have done more research before I made the purchase. Welcome to the 21st Century partner. We offered to buy it, Santa Ana accepted our offer, and the land changed hands. It WAS yours, now it is OURS.
End of story.
And an important postscript. It was Americans that made this land valuable in the first place. Do you think for one second if Mexico was still in possession of it since 1848 it would have a Hollywood, a Brentwood, a San Francisco, a Phoenix, a Disneyland, etc...? Not on your life. There would be millions of poverty stricken, uneducated Mexicans squatting in the sun grinding corn on a stone, complaining at how nice the Americans have it in Oregon, Nebraska, Florida, and Kansas. You HAD the land since the 1500s (under Spanish rule) and you did nothing at all with it. It looked the same in 1848 as it did in 1548. It wasn't until educated, technologically-advanced, enlightened Americans got the land that things began to improve. If the Mexicans take it over it will revert to a poverty ravished, disease ridden, educationally deprived, third world country again.
I say, stay in Mexico and improve IT and quit worrying about OUR land. Maybe while you are down there you can work on inventing a toilet you can put toilet paper in and it will flush without putzing up the entire community's plumbing. That should be step one.

First of all LEARN ENGLISH!!!
Second..It's not the land, it has nothing to do with the land. If you would have got the land, you would still be in the same shape you are already in because of your crooked government!!! You people need to make YOUR country better and not come here and make our country worse!!
If it was your land then how did we get it? I believe you couldn't take it from the Indians, you couldn't beat them, but we did and now it is our land!!
All you people seem to know is breaking laws and stealing!! That's why we don't want you here! If Mexico is so wonderful, why do so many of you sneek around to come here? You have squat in Mexico!! All you want to to is take advantage of all the wonderful things we have here and you give nothing back!
Go home and live in squaller where you belong!!

sure, if a man or woman is professional unlawful invader getting into the USA then they're anti- American. Nazrat you're slightly pretentious. No one cares how so much you paid in taxes. It does not make your opinion to any extent further legitimate than the leisure. What are those "jobs Americans would possibly not do" that i hold listening to approximately?

I didn't steal any land and no one I know has stolen any land. That is flat out BS lying anti American propaganda. America has been an independent nation since 1776. If you observed Independence Day instead of Cinco de Mayo, you would know that. California, for one, has been a state of the USA for over 150 years. If you learned anything about our history, our language, or our culture, and made any attempt to be an American, you'd know that. Your post proves you aren't here to be an American. You're here to steal jobs and spread anti-American propaganda.

You are incorrect!
Texas fought the Texas revolution to cede itself from Mexico after Mexico abolished slavery. Texas was part of Mexico and gained it's independence from Mexico on it's own and without interference from the US. Later, in the Mexican War of 1848, the US did fight with Mexico and win. The battle brewed in part over Mexicos refusal to negotiate over what to do about newly liberated Texas.
Although we on the war and could very easily have taken the land outright, Mexico was paid for the land that now encompasses California, New Mexico, etc.
In summary, Mexico lost the war, mexico was paid ofr the land anyway and now, Mexico and Mexicans have no claim to any of the areas of the southwest US. Those who want to follow proper channels and migrate here are welcome.
and many Mexicans sure are dying to get into a country they can only say bad things about.

Actually, if you want to get technical.....when we bought the land from Napolean....the Louisiana Purchase.....there was no actual western boundary, or southern boundary, or even northern boundary.....so we could ahve stated you and the canadians were on our land, huh? Then you would ahve to blame the French.....I would apologize for the American people, but quite honestly....I was not around at that time, so I take no blame, and if I find someone around at that time....I will mention to get a hold of you and apologize......

Why do all you pro-criminal people try this??? Really old already. We won the land in a war. If you still think it's rightfully Mexico's, then maybe we ought to kick your a$$ again just to remind you how we acquired this land. If you want it back, fight for it, I dare you.
