it would take His decision to do it.
This is part of an article on the BBC website:
"Lightning hits preacher after call to God":
A congregation in the United States was left stunned when lightning struck a church moments after a visiting preacher asked God for a sign.
Church members in the town of Forest in the state of Ohio said the preacher had been emphasising the importance of penance when, in the course of his prayers, he called on the heavens above.
The lightning struck the steeple, then hit the preacher himself when it travelled through electrical wiring to his microphone.
Local authorities said he was not injured.
---God didn't strike this guy down, but he sure got the sign he was asking for . . .
Actually, i think that most people have a mistaken idea about God using lightning to punish ppl . . . i don't think it happened in the Bible at all . . .
so i don't know why you're attributing this characteristic to the "Christian God" when most likely the idea is a remnant of the belief in the Norse god Thor, who was the god of thunder and lightning.

I have never seen a documented case of it (nor is it ever mentioned as happening in the Bible.although the plague of Hail that hit Egypt during Moses time did include lightning and someone might have been hit by that) as a matter of fact at one time Jesus told his followers to not even think about doing it.
Now he has struck people down with Fireballs, Hail, Plague, Rain, and an Angel of Death and and at one time there was no Discernable source. (that was the last biblical instance of a Gods Judgement related Death it involved two people who lied about thier tithe)

God is love and the only last time his destroyed was with water in the times of Noah. God says in the bible that the next time the
earth is destroyed it will when Jesus comes back, but I don't think it would be lightning.

Last time I know of that people just died of God's wrath was Anninias and Saphira in Acts, because they sinned under the grace of Christ's blood.
Christ might do it now, but it isn't like a pizza delivery. It has to be in His plan.

God could have righteously destroyed the world in it's sin but because he loved his creation chose instead to be tortured and killed it the place of those who will accept his atonement for there sins.So no under no circumstances while we are living under his grace will he strike anyone down.

Probably during the wanderings in the wilderness in Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers.
He did this to make an example of people who did not follow His commandments or the leaders He appointed.

not all Christians do this. I pray in front of planned Parenthood as a non violent protest. people who burn the clinics are in simple terms as in charge as people who're there to have an abortion or carry out abortions. God bless, Stanbo

Hey, sorry to disappoint, but there was this atheist, Ben something or other, that figured out that lightning is just electricity. Nothing to do with god at all. Sorry to disappoint you.
