Native Americans are genetically proven to have come from Asia. It's widely believed they came over the ice land bridge that connected Alaska to Eurasia. They went from Siberia into North America around 16,000 years ago and then spread throughout North and eventually South America.

you have to remember that skin color is believed to be a natural defence against the sun and UV rays. this means that the more sun the darker the skin color. it is also believed that people crossed over from asia before recorded times by way of the land bridge that appeared during the ice ages (there are belived to be many times when this path was accessable). add to that that it has been proven that ancient people could cross the atlantic in a reed boat... (i dont remember the source for this but it was big in the news a few years ago) then it is entirely possible that ancient europeans, asian, AND africans came over to the americas at different times. for example did you ever notice how the older south american races, and the origional hawiians both have asiatic (asian) traits? very interesting topic, one that a lot of speculation and research have gone into.

Theory is the americas were populated by peoples from Asia coming across the land bridge before it was covered by the ocean. There are also theories that Egyptians came to the Americas.
